Clint does Armstrong?

03.12.2003

Clint Eastwood has acquired the rights to the biography "First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong" and plans to produce and direct a big-screen adaptation for Warner Bros. At this time Eastwood does not plan to star in the film. The book, by Pulitzer Prize-winner James R. Hansen, is still being written and is expected to be completed in 2004. The book and eventual film will follow Armstrong's life as a pilot in the Korean War and, of course, his historic first step on the moon. No word yet on whether they'll show Armstrong telling Buzz Aldrin his shoe's untied then jumping out in front of him. Eastwood recently wrapped production on MYSTIC RIVER in which he directed Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and Kevin Bacon. The Armstrong tale wouldn't be Eastwood's first foray into space. The actor starred in SPACE COWBOYS, about a group of ex-fighter pilots recruited by NASA to assist during a satellite crisis.
