Why is the studio releasing "Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj" in 2000 theaters next week?

Because they're complete and utter morons?
Because they're bored?
Because they actually believe that somebody will pay actual money to see it on the big screen?
Because it's a quality product that the studio believes will appeal to a certain target audience?
Because the original made soooo much money? ($21M)
Dude, I have no idea why they would release such a piece-of-shit-lookin' movie into so many theaters. Wow.
Because Hollywood is obviously running out of ideas and won't give audiences credit until it's too late.

Gotta say

I really dug the original Van Wilder... I know... I know. But Ryan Reynolds man, he was like a new Chevy Chase in that movie. On the other hand i have no interest in this movie whatsoever.

Open your eyes schmoes

I'm a bit disappointed with this survey. It was missing the option I was looking for: Because people are generally stupid enough to want to see it or pathetic enough to stoop to that level. Maybe Hollywood will stop churning out shit if people stop helping them make money on it.

Listen Hollywood...

Hollywood, this is for your benefit. There are plenty of us with original and interesting ideas/screenplays for movies. Some of them are a little untrained, but that's largely due to how hard it is to break in when you're essentially just some joblo nobody, but that doesn't mean the ideas are bad. Open your doors. Give them a shot and stop looking for the new trend. Let this be your new trend. Give more nobody writer's screenplays the star treatment, don't undercut them so they do

Give more nobody writer's screenplays the star treatment, don't undercut them so they do horribly so you can say "See, we gave them a chance and nobody wants to see that." Don't take their scripts and change them thinking you can make them better because you tend to prove your ineptitude, and 9 times out of 10 the original script was better than the crap you churned out (*cough*THEY*cough*). Now I'm not saying every idea claiming to be original or interesting is good or a sure fire hit but it's sure to beat these pseudo-nonsequels you seem so fond of making. It's just a thought...do with it what you will.
