Poor Rob Zombie. The man just wanted to make an extra cool horror movie in the style of the gritty "old school" 70s flicks like THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (one of the few movies to actually scared the pants off me, incidentally), but Universal, the studio that actually backed his project in the first place, balked at releasing it once the man was done shooting the picture, because they were basically afraid of the MPAA. Boo-friggin-hoo! So MGM decided that they would take over the project and do their best by Zombie, but alas, even they pissed their pants once all was said and done.

So in came Lions Gate Films, the "little studio that could" and continuing in their great tradition, decided to release this "untouchable" picture, believing that somehow, someway...audiences might actually enjoy a picture that isn't solely a "comedy of misunderstandings" or a star vehicle starring Jennifer Lopez and the latest male star who wants to earn some bucks this week. In case you're not aware of some of the films that these good folks have distributed over the past few years, they include some of my own personal faves, as well as many other cool, unique flicks like AMERICAN PSYCHO, IRREVERSIBLE, FRAILTY, VULGAR, THE RULES OF ATTRACTION, BULLY, SECRETARY, DOGMA, amongst many others.

So now Zombie's HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES finally has a home and an actual release date of April 11, 2003 (in limited release initially). Lucky for us, our very own Arrow got himself a sneak peek at the film and gives us his own horror perspective on the movie.
