MOVIE POLL: What's your take on Rob Zombie's 'remake' of "Halloween"?

01.19.2007

What's your take on Rob Zombie's 'remake' of "Halloween"?

If the script notes about Michael Myers are true, it sounds awful!
I will reserve my opinion until I actually SEE the movie!
Zombie can do no wrong, I expect great things from this man!
I like Zombie, but for f*ck's sakes, this was a bad idea from the start. Get original, dude!
It ain't Zombie's fault, it's Hollywood! They are remake-crazy and until we stop paying to see that shit, they're gonna keep churning them out.
I have no opinion on this topic, but one thing I DO know is that Rob Zombie's wife is smokin' hot!!
None of the above (see my reasons below)

...then he shouldn't have chosen to call it "Halloween," now should he? "Halloween: The Beginning", "H-Zero", or even "Michael Myers: A Retrospective"

Hahaha, I like that. 'Michael Myers: A Retrospective"

A & E Presents: The Life and Times of Michael Myers.

Halloween is still a viable and relevant film today. Though, I suppose, if he can fix the problems that have popped up in the script we all heard about (which I hear he is doing) then I'd rather see Halloween remade by zombie then, say, Michael Bay (and by that I mean Platinum Dunes)...though I did like the TCM remake

I like Rob Zombie as a director, but I'm not sure if his style really fits Halloween. Yes, it's a horror movie, but the original movie was a real "classy" horror movie with little to no gore, but Zombie is a gorehound! But, I am going to play the wait and see, so I guess I shouldn't have picked None of the above, eh?

Well, let's see. House of 1000 Corpses was terrible. The Devil's Rejects was terrible. So, what do I expect of this? Anyone want to take a guess?

Rob Zombie is all about remakes.

Take House of 1000 Corpses. That was a complete and utter ripoff of Texas Chainsaw Masscare. Done poorly at that. (And no, House was NOT an "homage" to that movie, that would be an insult).

The Devil's Rejects was just expanding on the characters from House and a way to make a totally pointless but violent movie. Think of it like Hannibal to Silence of the Lambs (though that's saying House was a good movie). Hannibal's only point of existence was to have Dr. Lecter do gross and disgusting

Hannibal's only point of existence was to have Dr. Lecter do gross and disgusting cannibalistic things. Devil's Rejects was the same.

But that's getting off the point. Zombie doesn't have any fresh ideas anyway. So him doing a remake... not surpising... But why mess with a classic? And if it's a "prequel" or expansion on the idea? Please. The Halloween series needs to just die. That stopped being good after... oh... the FIRST one.

I'm not *talking* about the title, mzieg. I'm talking about exactly what Mr. Zombie said from the git-go; and not to mention that since the script is going under re-writes right now, there's still a chance the title might suddenly get a change.

Oh, and...you might want to take a look in the mirror: your foolhardiness is showing.

If not a remake...

...then he shouldn't have chosen to call it "Halloween," now should he? "Halloween: The Beginning", "H-Zero", or even "Michael Myers: A Retrospective" perhaps, but when you use the same title IT'S A REMAKE!

For the last time: ZOMBIE SAID, RIGHT AT THE START, THAT THIS WASN'T GOING TO BE A REMAKE. It's going to be more of a prologue, a prequel, that just happens to overlap with the first movie's events at times.

Sheee-IT! I'm STILL the only one to remember this, I guess.

I just hope this is more of a The Thing or Dawn of the Dead remake, and not a Wicker Man remake. There are some good remakes, hopefully this will be one of them as Halloween is nothing short of a classic.

Sick of Remakes

I am pretty sick of Remakes, prequels, and pathetic attempts of sequels. Now I admit that I do look forward to a lot of sequels, (Spiderman 3 in particular) but for the most part, they are unnecessary and usually a cheap attempt at a quick buck. Sadly as long as these crappy movies are made, and us as consumers go and see them, we will continue to have to endure them.
