I don't know...

Unlike some, I won't eat shoes or various body parts if the film does well but I don't think it will break out of the low 20s. I don't think the average movie-goer is familiar with the source material(the event or the graphic novel) and it looks kinda "artsy". The style alone will kill it in every market except the West Coast and New York. It will probably do well in Austin, Texas though.

Id be surprised if it even hits 30 million. A couple of reasons why: it looks to be a very good movie, and unique in its filming style. We all know the type of movies people are really digging this year. My guess, Wild Hogs will be number one again next week.

But if everyone had the movie tastes as us, it really would make 300 million, and Zodiac would have made 4 times as much last weekend.

NOT QUITE

This will make just slightly less than Sin City, which grossed right around 40M opening weekend. Keep in mind that the film is a "hard R," which will limit its box office take.

Let's see...

...it tests as well with women as it does with men, it's based on a historical event (unlike that other little box office 'failure' you may have heard of; Gladiator), it's filmed in a style that's more groundbreaking than anything I've seen since the Matrix, and it will inspire a slew of imitators in movies for years to come.

If this thing doesn't make $50 million this weekend, I'd be surprised.

It's gonna tank

Despite the fact that I've seen 500 advertisements for this movie, I still don't know what it's about (besides war, death and gore). It looks like Braveheart, but without a story. No story = no watch.

Of course, I could be full of crap too :)

no way.

I will eat my shoes if this flick does better than $10. It looks good and I'll be seeing it, but there's no way that this movie is making more than a ten-spot in it's opening weekend.

I don't see it going beyond $30 million. It'll still probably do decent, like around 70-80 million, but it won't be a huge blockbuster by any chance. Just look at Sin City and V for Vendetta, both movies based on graphic novels and rated R. Movies like these will probably only cater to the [link] in the roughest sense.

On the other hand, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS MOVIE!

As much as I'd love to agree

I just don't see it happening. 300 seems to be geared for a very specific audience and will be predominantly male. Wild Hogs, regardless of how bad of a film it may actually turn out to be, is geared pretty much for everyone. Kids can see it, housewives will see it (thanks Oprah)... neither category will be high on the demographic list for 300. Not to mention the fact that it is a rated R movie, which will automatically hurt its chances as kids will have to buy tickets to a Wild Hogs and

300

I'd be willing to bet my left teste that 300 makes over 40 million this weekend. I mean if wildhogs can make 30, then a much more highly anticipated film the following week better make more.

Also, if the film make between 40-41 million, does that mean no one's right in the poll?
