The Mighty Ducks

I agree with powerbomb. Emilio and the Ducks are easily my favorite sports film of all time. For a family film, that movie is genius.

Major League or For Love of the Game

I gotta go with two great baseball flicks.

For Love of the Game is just an excellent love story that seems to show the most realistic look in to what Pro ballplayers go through.

Major League is just a classic. You don't need to say anything more than that.

Honorable mention:

The Rookie - Say what you like about the Disney cookie-cutter sports flicks, but this one gets me everytime. Plus, I've got mad love for Dennis Quaid. Dude can throw 98mph fastballs, fight off giant

Longest Yard (Burt Reynolds version), Bull Durham is a classic. What about The original Bad News Bears?

I take great pleasure in the knowledge that my great-uncle fought - and beat - Jake LaMotta in his pre-boxing days. TWICE.

The Natural or Friday Night Lights. The Natural just 'cause it's frickin' amazing. Friday Night Lights because I went in expecting crap and nothing new, but came away being totally amazed with how good it was.

That's a toughie!

I'm a huge baseball movie fan and I'd have to say that it's a close race between "The Sandlot" and "Bull Durham".

The Basketball Diaries

The Basketball Diaries is one of my favorites. The best scene is the basketball match on drugs to the sound of Riders on the Storm. And I liked "Karate Kid", "Rocky" and "Billy Elliot".

I vote would be on Jerry Maguire, which I classify to be a sports movie. None of those that you could pick from in the poll are any good.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. Dodgeball rules as well. I saw someone else had picked that. Great sports movie!

People on this board are TOO young

Slapshot should be WAY higher on this poll, I just saw it a few months ago for the first time and laughed my ass off (i'd say it's held up well)

my fav is...

Friday Night Lights by far. I'm not a huge fan of sports movies, but damn that one was just perfect. I don't think I'll see another sports film that will top that one.

What constitutes a sports movie? Just having sports in it? The sports playing a role in the heart of the story? Kingpin is funny and I love bowling and bowling is even prominent in the movie but I don't consider it a sports movie.

Golf? It's Bobby Jones:Stroke of Genius or The Greatest Game Ever Played. Baseball? Hands down it's Eight Men Out. Basketball? Where's White Men Can't Jump?, Airbud or Space Jam? Football? How about The Replacements, The Waterboy, the original version of

Ok, I know Airbud wasn't that great, but everyone loves monkeys so where's MVP? I know it's impossible to do a poll of all sports movies though.

Where the **** is...

I know there is no point to putting "..." when you can see the answer right here.....but whatever.

Where the hell is Million Dollar Baby?

I don't know if this counts, but HEART OF THE GAME was a fantastic documentary on basketball....where the hell are either of those two?!

I'd definitely have to say BULL DURHAM is my favorite of all time. It captures baseballs' true gritty feeling.

BASEketball

Despite being a spoof-sport, this one has ewverything a good sports movie should have; including Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
