Weekend Box-Office

WEEKEND BOX-OFFICE

A somewhat surprising weekend at the box-office this time of the month with three movies from last week hanging on strong and losing very little of their audiences one week later. HOLES, for example, only dropped 20% from its opening last week, while ANGER MANAGEMENT almost stuck to the #1 spot for the third week in a row, but was narrowly beaten one of the better movies of the year so far: IDENTITY. MALIBU'S MOST WANTED also continued to surprise with over $24 million in grosses so far. CONFIDENCE's first week out was a decent one, but certainly nothing special, with a little under $5 million, while the obvious crap like THE REAL CANCUN and IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY thankfully bombed as predicted by all, with close to $3 million in revenues respectively. And yes, for anyone who is keeping score at home, this weekend also marked CHICAGO's bow out of the TOP 10 after about 4 months of raking in the money for MIRAMAX. BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE also dropped out.
