Next year you'll be able to return to the wizarding world with FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, the first of three planned Harry Potter spinoff movies focusing on eccentric magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). The film will see Scamander traveling to New York with a magically expanded briefcase that houses a number of dangerous creatures who, of course, escape, which could cause trouble for wizards and No-Maj (American for Muggle) alike. Filming kicked off in August with Harry Potter 5-8 director David Yates behind the camera, with a cast that also includes Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight and Ron Perlman.

Last week Warner Bros. revealed that an "announcement trailer" for the movie will be released today, and now the teaser is online for your viewing trailer, as well as the first poster. What are your thoughts on the first trailer for the upcoming film?

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM has been set to hit theaters on November 18, 2016.

Meh

It's at least a clever idea. I was afraid it was going to be some newbie getting a tour of mystical places, which sounded lame as hell. It will all depend on if the characters are interesting and likeable, and if there's enough of a threat to make it exciting (or at least interesting). Rowling is a mediocre writer, but at least she had some great idea on the large scale to make the Potter books and movies worth checking out. But I'm not exactly holding my breath for this to be great.

Underwhelmed on the trailer. Hope we can see something cool though soon. I am excited the universe is expanding. Though, I may want to see someone besides Yates behind the camera.

I agree. I still think Cuaron's Azkaban was the best out of the series.

Agreed. Cauron set the tone for the movies to mature along with the stories in the books. Would love to see him come back, as unlikely as that is.

I'll be the first to admit that I love me some wizarding world but I'm really hoping this stays a stand alone type movie in the HP universe and not end up spawning sequels and becoming another franchise. I think it'd be smart to expand ala Star Wars but I don't want to see 7 movies based on Fantastic Beasts. I long for the day where we get maybe a trilogy based on Harry's children. Hogwarts: The New Class. And I know that example might be cringe inducing to some of you but keep in mind I would

And I know that example might be cringe inducing to some of you but keep in mind I would want it to be of quality and substance and not just be some cash grab which seems to be the trend amongst studios now a days. It would have to stand up on its own merits next to the HP movies. I don't want some new half assed franchise. If they can work it in a clever, new, and interesting way then I'd be all for that. Just no lazy writing.

Well prepare to be disappointed because Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling having The Fantastic Beasts to be a trilogy.
