2 more for Speed Racer

There had been a lot of rumors floating around about who'd be starring in the Wachowskis' upcoming SPEED RACER film and I don't think anyone at anytime mentioned John Goodman. But sure enough Goodman, and Susan Sarandon, have both signed on to star in the film. Goodman and Sarandon will play Pops and Mom Racer, parents of Speed. Pops built the Mach 5, the car that Speed uses to tool around the track. Still to be cast are the roles of Trixie, girlfriend of Speed and Racer X, the story's is-he-or-isn't-he villain. The Wachowskis are directing from their own script with frequent collaborator Joel Silver producing at Warner Bros. Production is expected to get underway this summer in Germany where a bulk of the production will be done over green screen.

Extra Tidbit:	Will there be a Chim-Chim in the movie? If so will it be a real monkey? What about Spritle?

If they do use Spridle and Chim Chim then I hope they explain why they don't die when the hide in the trunk for such long periods of time.

I really hope that the car stays exactly the same. That is the only thing that they really need to stay true to in this movie because that is all the show was about. Remember when they changed the car for that bad animated Speed Racer movie?

Also, I think that it would be sweet if they didn't change the costumes at all. It would be bizzare to see them acting serious while wearing those clothes.

With all due respects to John Goodman (much respect for his work with the Cohen Bros), this just feels like unimaginative casting to me. Is he the only fat guy in Hollywood? Because otherwise, he doesn't really look like pops. It seems like all too often directors say "we need a fat guy... call John Goodman!"
