2010 Preview: Summit

01.04.2010

Summit Entertainment, one of the new "mini-majors" has made waves with the TWILIGHT films and one of this year's Oscar frontrunners THE HURT LOCKER. But what does 2010 look like? They don't have as many films as the traditional studios but what they do have is a new TWILIGHT film, which can't be bad for business. It's also somewhat funny that out of six films, they have two Robert Pattinson films and two Pierce Brosnan films. Weird. Check out Summit's 2010 slate below!

2010 Previews: WARNER BROS, WALT DISNEY, SONY PICTURES, LIONSGATE and PARAMOUNT

THE GHOST WRITER
(Spring)

When a successful British ghostwriter, THE GHOST, agrees to complete the memoirs of former British Prime Minister ADAM LANG, his agent assures him it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. But the project seems doomed from the start—not least because his predecessor on the project, Lang’s long-term aide, died in an unfortunate accident. The Ghost flies out to work on the project, in the middle of winter, to an oceanfront house on an island off the U.S. Eastern seaboard. But the day after he arrives, a former British cabinet minister accuses Lang of authorizing the illegal seizure of suspected terrorists and handing them over for torture by the CIA—a war crime. The controversy brings reporters and protesters swarming to the island mansion where Lang is staying with his wife, RUTH, and his personal assistant (and mistress), AMELIA. As The Ghost works, he begins to uncover clues suggesting his predecessor may have stumbled on a dark secret linking Lang to the CIA—and that somehow this information is hidden in the manuscript he left behind. Was Lang in the service of the American intelligence agency while he was prime minister? And was The Ghost’s predecessor murdered because of the appalling truth he uncovered?

Brendan Fraser kids comedy...

... with funny animals.
I watched the trailer for "Furry" (okay I admit it, I was hoping for hot Japanese chicks in animal costumes).
I am definitely NOT in it's target demographic.

I'd love to meet the guy that's at the board meetings like "You know guys, our movies are doing pretty well, but I think I have the missing link that's preventing them from really breaking records...and his name is Brosnan"

Yeah, judging by the cast Red could be cool but I'll watch John C. Reilly in pretty much anything. I hope they push out more films like The Hurt Locker and less like Furry Vengeance. That sounds pretty awful. In fact, besides Red, the Pattinson one might be the best bet which is a really weird thing to be saying.

Summit Entertainment

Summit Entertainment is really coming up on in the inustry fast and part of that is thanks to the Twilight films, they'll probably make a ton of $$ with they're Eclipse movie this year and next year with the fourth Twi-film, it will eventually turn into a major movie studio.

I liked Push and Knowing, those films are pretty good and...oh...they're from Summit.
