Kidman's next?

08.06.2003

Nicole Kidman recently dropped out of both MR. AND MRS. SMITH and MANDERLAY because of a busy schedule yet she seems to be attached to every picture in Hollywood. Ms. Kidman is now negotiating to star in the thriller THE INTERPRETER for director Sidney Pollock, who last directed the awful RANDOM HEARTS. The pic would find Kidman, an interpreter for the United Nations, overhearing a plot to assassinate an African leader. She teams up with a federal agent (whom she no doubt has some romantic interest in) to stop the crime before it occurs. Kidman is currently filming THE STEPFORD WIVES and has THE AVIATOR shortly thereafter. This film would likely not begin filming until late-2003 at the earliest. The actress is still attached to the Nora Ephron adaptation of BEWITCHED with Jim Carrey and a possible reteaming with her COLD MOUNTAIN director Anthony Minghella. The Oscar-winner has two films on the horizon - MOUNTAIN, which hits theaters this Christmas and BIRTH which should see release early in 2004. Her Cannes entry DOGVILLE will also see US release early next year via Lions Gate.
