Brother Bear posters

08.12.2003

Being a huge fan of just about all things animated, and having easily seen BOB & DOUG MACKENZIE'S STRANGE BREW well over 30 times since I was a young lad growing up in the great white north, I guess it's a given that I would be looking forward to seeing two of my earliest cinematic loves combined into one film when Disney's BROTHER BEAR is released this coming November. Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas play a couple of wise-cracking Moose (who are definitely going to be a tie-in bonanza if the marketing to date is any indication) in the moral wielding film about a vengeful teen hunter (Joaquin Pheonix) who, after his father is killed by a grizzly protecting her cubs, sets out to slay the bear who took his father from him. But in his vengeful rage, the boy himself is transformed into a bear by the spirits of the forest and must now, with the help of a young cub, escape his own brother, who has organized a hunting party to track down the beast he believes to have killed his family. The first poster for the film was released last week showcasing the two lead bears and now a second one featuring the goofy moose has popped up. Check them out below and click to enlarge. If you haven't seen it yet, the trailer can be found in our Trailer Archives, and aside from a few blatantly recycled scenes (the stampede in the valley from LION KING) and a very familliar Phil Collins soundtrack, the film looks like standard Disney fare, which is usually pretty damn good.
