Max Payne begins

Sep. 24, 2008by: Omar Aviles

<a href=MAX PAYNE" /> Those cool bastids over at IGN recently posted a neat little featurette for the video game adapted MAX PAYNE in which they recount the impetus for the titular DEA agent's revenge fueled rampage and the reason why he's up to his ass hairs in Norse mythology, which is good because all those flying supernatural monsters were starting to give the film a bizarre CONSTANTINE feel. The coolest thing about the featurette is that it's done in neat comic book style, complete with brooding, unnecessarily raspy Mark Wahlberg voice over. It's not long so take a look-see over HERE. Max Payne exorcises metaphorical demons on October 17th.

Extra Tidbit: There's gonna be a "Mila Kunis: Smokin' Hot Assassin" featurette, right?

PG-13.... f*ckin great.

I really was looking forward to this, but now I see that it's PG-13... so yeah I'll be seeing something else that weekend. I'm so sick of these watered down PG-13 movies. MAX PAYNE is a MATURE rated game with adult themes, language, and violence. How in the world can it be PG-13?! I thought it actually had a shot of breaking the mindset of "videogames to movies suck" but I guess I was wrong.

PG-13!?!?!

I thought this was set to be rated R? PG-13 is going to totally ruin this. There's no one below the age of 17 that would of played this game anyways. I might as well just wait for the unrated blu-ray...even though the extended DVD cuts are never a huge improvement anyways.

yaawwwwnnn

gotta love these video game adaptations. yawwwnnnn excuse me. you make it an r film and you will have few 20-30 somethings who know the game. and maybe a few chicks that like walberg. you water it down with a pg-13 rating and you add a few teens in there with maybe a few parents. either way this will open up 3rd or 4th on the box office at best with about 15mil. just my guess.

Well... I guess we now have an explanation as to what the hell those winged things are, thank goodness they are metaphorical.

Hell Ya

Alright I have high hopes for this movie. The video game is bad ass and the trailer is bad ass. Could this actually be a good video game adaptation?

Fuckin' A! I loved how they used some of the dialogue from the games. At least they're keeping close to the source material (or so it seems)...so rock on!

You know, say what you will about this film, but the trailers, posters and now this featurette have proven at the very least the resolve of the filmmakers. Never before have I seen a videogame adapted so lovingly, there were so many little things directly from the game it's not even funny. God I really hope this is the one to break the awful video game to movie streak... And I'm even sold on Marky Mark's raspy voice now. When it's not in small clippets it's a lot easier to see what he's going

SO is it still gonna be edited down to a PG-13 or not? Keep it R and tell Fox to go to hell.
