Transformers 2 is long

Apr. 14, 2009by: Daniel Barna

I've noticed that there's not as much excitement surrounding this summer's TRANSFORMERS 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, as there was for the film's predecessor a few summers back. Perhaps it's because we're no longer anticipating the robots as we once were. It's like: been there done that. Maybe it's because a lot of us didn't really care for TRANSFORMERS in the first place, and so why should we care about another one? Truth be told, the thing I'm most looking forward to, is more of Michael Bay's fetishization of Megan Fox's midriff; one of the few things he's done right over the course of his career.

Still, the most self-indulgent director in Hollywood is intent on giving us more than we can chew with this sequel and has announced a runtime of 147 minutes; four minutes longer than the original. When asked by MTV about the studio's reaction, Bay repiled:

I don’t ever talk (to executives) about run times. Studios always ask, ‘What’s the run time?’ And I’m like ‘If you enjoy the movie, do you care?

I guess the man has a point. With all of his chest-beating and robe-wearing aside, the man does have a point. You can catch TRANSFORMERS 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN on June 24th, 2009.

transformers' fan hatin'

probably because he made Megatron into an Insecticon, or because Bumble Bee wasn't the car Mr. Bean was using, hmm maybe he didn't use the original music as the opening, TRANSFORMERS! ALL THAT MEETS THE EYE~

i dont know, Arvindh, do you think the main reason people hate on Bay is because he DOESNT know what we wanna see. or what to do or when to do it. and if there was any people talking about character development lacking from the first film, i would assume we are talking about the actual transformers the movie takes it name from. why would people care about Shia's back story, we wanted less humans, more robots. i wanted to see the first one, but wasnt jumping ff wals in excitement, then i saw it

BAY IS GOOD.

I don't understand why people hate Michael Bay so much. It's crazy! The man knows what you wanna' see and he delivers it. And he knows what to do when and how to do it. People always complain about the first TF being too corny and flat and no character development. Huh? So you want to see more of Shia and Megan's back story and more of his grandpa's boring adventures on sea or whatever as opposed to just watching in awe as giant robots transform into cars and tear each other apart? And loads of

Give me a break! If everything in cinema were an alternate version of There Will Be Blood, we'd be bored halfway to death and cinema would suck monkey nuts. Sometimes we need TF-ish flicks and only Michael Bay knows how to make popcorn flicks with quality. Who would you rather choose? Bret Ratner? Stephen Sommers? Uwe *puke puke* Boll?! Guess not. Unless you're not awesome.

Michael Bay makes movies, not cinema.
Movies mostly suck, if you look for some quality product, but people tend to prefer being entertain and forget about it than to been thrown real subject at. I prefer cinema to movies by far and Michael Bay is one of the most laughable directors in the history of MOVIES.

If by "self indulgent director" you mean that he makes films that people actually like and pay money to see repeatedly and that he thinks about what an audience wants on screen, then yes Michael Bay is a self indulgent director. He seems to be one of the only directors working today who has a clear sense of what works with an audience. If I'm wrong why do studios give him the biggest projects, budgets and release dates? Why do his films make so much effin' money? Why do all the little people

It's because he kicks ass and this is a common characteristic for those of us with high levels of kick assery running through our veins.

Hate all you want, I love Michael Bay's films. He's the only director who is making early Spielberg style films. Even Spielberg (two time oscar winning director/king of hollywood) loves working with him. I can't wait for this film!!!!

Oh, and in the words of Mike Lowry "F&ck you and F&ck them and F&ck everybody who's got a problem with Michael Bay!"

YES!!

Part 2 is no doubt going to be nothing more than awesome!!!!!!!! BEST movie of the summer, best effects of the summer, boldest film of the summer, same as the original, transformers could not have been brought back in a more epic way! fans should be worshiping bay! these films could have been major low budget and garbage like the new streetfighter film, but instead we get the director with the biggest balls in hollywood and the biggest budget going!!!

Good one

"If you enjoy the movie, do you care?"

Well, Bay. I didn't buy your last attempt that was more about humans than Transformers, so my expectations for the sequel is zero.

Who'd have thought Michael frickin' Bay of all people would have the right idea about this?

I just think there's no hype because they haven't started to heavily advertise it and we're all about to hit finals. Who gives a shit about a summer movie when you find out you have a German final the day after you come back from spring break. awesome right?

same here, if the fight scenes are made better I'm cool with it if not, I'm still OK with coz I just want to see how the autobots are going take down Devastator and like Alejandro27 said I hope he's given more screen-time and isn't taken down abruptly like megatron in the first movie.

Not to sound gay or anything, I couldn't care less how much midriff/ass/cleavage Meagan Fox is going to show off. She's more of a welcomed distraction for me, nothing more (unless if there's gonna be a hot sex

Anyway, I'm more interested in big CGI robots kicking each others assess!!!

BTW I hope Barricade wasn't left out.

I'm glad to see a healthy runtime, instead of the little pussy-ass hour and a half crap they've been ripping us off with recently; so green border for that.

However, Transformers 2? I was way too disappointed by the first one to care much what they do with this one. I HOPE this one is better, but I don't expect it. Not until Bay learns how to capture action on the screen. Hopefully Ziggy is right, and they've done better with this one, but I doubt it.

Transformers 2 = Rental...

all i gotta say is NOTICE THE GREEN Mr Daniel Barna. People actually fully enjoyed the first Tranformers. I was certainly one of them. It was not disappointing. Bay did an amazing job to make the movie more adult. The second Tranformers movie if you've gone to sites like tfw2005 has gotten ALOT of buzz. You just have to know where to look.

If there's more of Fox's midriff, the movie's runtime won't be the only thing getting extended. Am I right???..........*cough*

The longer, the better

(And I'm talking about the movie's runtime, FYI)

Transformers is one of my favorite flicks; I've watched it over a dozen times since it came out. Doesn't feel like such a short time ago. The second one looks even better, and I can't wait to be there on June 24!

Transformers

Look, Transformers was supposed to be shit blowing up. Michael Bay likes to blow up shit. I didn't go into Transformers expecting a lot of good acting and what not. I wanted to see some transforming and some shit blowing up. It did that and more. Hell yeah I'm seeing this one and hopes there will be four more minutes of shit blowing up. If you ever watched the cartoon when you were little the only thing you were concerned with is shit blowing up and robots transforming. I certainly didn't care

Considering the average attention span of the audience this is directed at, I'm not sure that making it longer is the sort of thing that would be a good ... ohhhh! Look at that robot it blowed up real good that was so awesome!!!

Joblo is bias.

Just because YOU guys aren't talking about this movie, doesn't mean other people aren't. There's many sites that post info on a daily basis regarding this film, but the most you'll see from Joblo is once a month, if not twice. You guys kind of pick and chose what info you want to do stories about, hell, you did an article about TDK action figures for Christ's sake! Meanwhile you missed 90% of the TF news regarding the characters, or plot developments. Keep in mind that Transformers comes out

Of course 2 will be better than the first.
I so don't care for the Transformers... I just care for another Bay movie - best visual guy out there. Just for the pyramids shot by Mr Bay the movie is worth every penny. The longer I can see shots filmed by Bay, the better.

The first one was just okay. The action was the best part, but nothing else was really that great. I'll probably see the 2nd one just for the action.

cool

This is the kind of movie that can be long and it wont bother me, just as long as there is enough action spread throughout the movie that I dont get bored and wonder when it will end.
