Franco/Altman redux

10.24.2003

James Dea... I mean... James Franco, has signed on to live every male (and a few female) schmoe's wet dream. Production Weekly is reporting that following the recent release of his first film with legendary director Robert Altman - on the ballet themed, THE COMPANY (with Neve Campbell) - Franco will once again team up with the acclaimed filmmaker for his next project, PAINT. Huh? Ok, I know you're all just trying to get that disturbing image of some Franco/Altman lovin' out of your head (or if you weren't, you are now), so let me help you out a bit. In the film, Franco will co-star alongside the dumbfoundingly hot Salma Hayek. There, is that better? Thought so. For the film, Altman will once again try his hand at a thriller, a genre that wasn't so kind to him on his last go-round with THE GINGERBREAD MAN. The story is set among the denizens of the New York art scene, and centers on a murdered painter and his younger fellow-artist brother, played by Franco. Hayek will play a documentary filmmaker drawn into the brothers' private world while working on a project about the late painter. Salma's been keeping busy lately. She just finished filming on Brett Ratner's AFTER THE SUNSET with Pierce Brosnan and Woody Harrelson; she is rumored to be playing deceased former freediving world record holder Audrey Mestre in a biopic for director James Cameron (for anyone who cares, Mestre's husband did indeed break his own world freediving record on October 13th, the first anniversary of his wife's death, and yes, He did use Jake and Elwood - the robotic submarines from GHOSTS OF THE ABYSS - to capture the stunt); and in her spare time, Salma can also be found badmouthing her ex, Ed Norton, at just about every turn.
