I want to believe "Where the Wild Things Are" will have the kids and the built-in audience of kids-at-heart to push it on through.

Rom-coms tend to require a certain charm to keep them around, so I'm expecting at least a small drop in "Couples Retreat."

As good as "Paranormal Activity" may be, I think "The Stepfather" has an unfortunate advantage, and could be the biggest competition to "Wild Things" and "Retreat."

But just watch "Law Abiding Citizen" take the crown while I'm not

might be close

"Where the wild things are" has a lot of anticipation and fans but I'm gonna say "Couples Retreat". It's a PG-13 comedy, which is sure to get all the teens to the theaters.

You are clueless. Couples Retreat appealed to mostly middle-aged couples, that's what brought them out in droves. Every single teen I know wants to check Wild Things out, and not one of them wants to see Couples Retreat.

I really hope "Where the Wild Things Are" makes a lot of money, simply due to the fact that "Law Abiding Citizen" looks like crap and "The Stepfather" is another predictable remake.

I WISH "Paranormal Activity" could be #1, but "Where the Wild Things Are" is going to be huge (I think). Especially based on the recent successes of family fare like "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and the Toy Story double feature (though they also had the 3-D factor on their side). I'll be seeing EVERY one of those movies this weekend, as well as "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell" which is supposedly set to be released wide this Friday but who knows if that'll actually happen?

Actually, 3D was not on the side of the Toy Story double feature. Since it could ONLY show in 3D theaters, and each showing was more than 3 hrs long, it limited the number of showings per day.
