New Movie Trailers

A slew of NEW MOVIE TRAILERS hit the Net this week including my personal fave for a quirky looking indie flick called THE BIG EMPTY, starring Jon Favreau, Rachael Leigh Cook, Darryl Hannah, Sean Bean, Kelsey Grammer, Joey Lauren Adams, Danny Trejo, Adam Beach and a number of other second-rate actors(?) HELLBOY also joined the crew, and despite being showcased on Yahoo Movies' seriously crappy trailer-vision (doesn't any studio realize how BADLY they are shooting themselves in the foot when this is how they first introduce their films to the world? Q-U-I-C-K-T-I-M-E!!), the trailer looks pretty neat, despite some shades of LXG (although with Del Toro at the helm, we can pretty much rule out a shit movie) The rest of the trailers are only so-so, including the disappointing full trailer to Jack Nicholson's SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE, whose teaser was actually semi-funny, as well as the generic-looking Angelina Jolie thriller called TAKING LIVES, the based-on-a-true-story hockey movie about the American hockey team's Olympic Gold Medal championship starring Kurt Russell called MIRACLE, as well as Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore looking out of place in a romantic comedy (I think) called LAWS OF ATTRACTION.

You can also take a peek at a French supernatural Western (you read that right!) starring Vincent Cassel, Juliette Lewis and Michael Madsen (odd cast) called BLUEBERRY, as well as Norman Jewison's latest starring Michael Caine entitled THE STATEMENT. We've also added your proverbial "kids flicks" including CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN which has one of the worst trailers of the year and features Steve Martin making a complete ass out of himself. Think THE CAT IN THE HAT meets DADDY DAY CARE meets BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE. If you enjoyed any of those films (so you're the one!), check it out. Anthony Anderson is also continuing his streak as the most overexposed actor of his generation and seems to have more screen-time than even Frankie Munez in the follow-up to AGENT CODY BANKS cleverly titled with a 2 at the end, while ELLA ENCHANTED is not as bad as either of the former films, but does let us know that actress Anne Hathaway isn't ready to move past the "simple girl turning into something special" phase of her acting career just yet. Oh, by the way, I saw THE LAST SAMURAI last night and it was one of the best movies I've seen all year. Seriously, it's awesome.
