MOVIE POLL: Are you going to see New Moon?

Nov. 20, 2009by:

Are you going to see New Moon?

I've already got my tickets pre-purchased!
If the lines aren't too crazy, I might check it out.
Definitely not opening weekend, but eventually.
I'll probably just wait and watch it on DVD.
No way, I'm avoiding this like the plague.
Going to? I've seen it already!

I just don't get it

I'm not hankering to see this, but I don't understand why people are so worked up hating this movie. It's a vampire movie for girls. The level of anger makes people sound threatened by it. Seriously, I'm not trying to antagonize the haters - I legitimately don't understand what the problem is. I think the hype around most comic book movies is embarrassing and the fanboy gushing doubly so - but I wouldn't begrudge somebody just because they were marking the calendar to count the days for

Seems kind of hypocritical that people can be so obsessed with their own movie interests, but then take aim with so much hate for a movie aimed at a different audience.

Is it because, even though there are two different audiences, that the geekasm that girls are having for these movies, make people self conscious about their own movie "events".

you make a good point. for example: "barnyard animal fun 5" was a porn made for ppl that like having sex with barnyard animals. not a movie made for ppl that are big into horror flicks. etc.

It's because this franchise is bastardization (that's a word, right?) of the entire vampire mythos. It's one thing to be inventive with the mythos, but it's something else entirely to make your vampires sparkle and have them spout obscure Mormon teachings... Stephanie Meyer should have been publicly flogged for this atrocity.

To add on to Elessar's valid point about the bastardization of vampires, Twilight's success has at the same time made companies ride the vampire coat tails by releasing crap that otherwise would never have seen the light of day (Vampire Diaries, The Vampire's Assistant). If that wasn't bad enough, New Moon is now the Midnight Showing Champion, topping out the superior Harry Potter films and the Dark Knight. Just something about it doesn't fly right

The vampire mythos argument is crap. I totally agree with smooveluv.

Does anybody hate movies like 28 Days Later or Dawn of the Dead (remake) cause zombies are running ?? Thats not we all know of zombies, still we accept it.

Move on guys, accept that a film isnt for you, accept that girls, even in their 20's, think a 16-yo boy is hot. And stop jerking off to your comic book movies. There are far worse movies than Twilight. By the way, vampires dont exists. The author is allowed to do

I agree with smooveluv as well. Obviously these are movies mean something to their fans, whether anyone else thinks they are good or not. It doesn't matter what they love about it either, if you don't like it, you don't like it. Why can't it be that simple? The Twilight saga is huge, but so were followings for other movies. It's okay to have an opinion but at times I feel like it's taken further for that. As movie fans we shouldn't be so damn snobby.

Sure, sparkling vampires, that's gay. A grown man running around downtown in a fucking rubber suit with bat ears fighting a clown, that's some manly shit...

Its all perspective.

my main problem is i hear about it every where i fucking go. a good chunk of my day i run into advertisement for it. seriously i think they spent more marketing this movie than they did making it. mark my words someday soon theyll be a super bowl commercial taking up air time wed rather see spent on iron man 2.

Yeah I think most people agree that its not a very good film. But, the issue is about people hating with a passion the fans of the film, as if they were threatened by it, which is ridiculous.
