2nd Spirit trailer

Sep. 26, 2008by:

<a href=THE SPIRIT" />

The second full trailer for the Frank Miller directed, Will Eisner comic adapted THE SPIRIT is out and boy, does this thing look all kinds of goofy. It starts off all DARK KNIGHT brooding then segues rather immediately into batshit cartoon lunacy, topped off with lines like "I'm gonna kill you all kinds of dead…" and "Somebody get me a tie…and it better be red…" Yikes. Check it out over at our video hub. Gabriel Macht as the titular hero fights cartoon crime on Christmas Day. Get the trailer in HD over HERE.

Extra Tidbit: According to Wikipedia, "Several famous Spirit stories were actually retooled from a failed publishing venture featuring an eyepatched, pipe smoking detective named John Law." Coolio.

Looks WAY better than the last... err, first... err, OTHER trailer I saw. Still not really hyped for the movie, but at least now I'm interested.

OH by the way, what's with a Frank Miller movie being rated PG-13? I don't know how much killing all kinds of dead can factor into a PG-13 movie. Is he gonna hug them all kinds of dead? Hm...

Sin City meets Daredevil meets the Dark Knight Returns. If you listen closely, you can hear Wil Eisner doing 7600 RPM.

For sure, this made the movie look better than the last. Notice how they avoid floating blue Jaime King which is what threw me off on the other one. Well, that and the horrid rock song.

Sold

This trailer actually sold me on this movie, unlike that first taint sucking trailer. It looks like fun. However, does every villian have to come out of the water at some point in this movie because that just seems a bit repetitious. If you'll excuse me I have to go and find a body of water to rise out of, because apparently all the cook kids are doing it.

Decent opening, then a huge drop off

This has a great cast, but man this looks like a wannabe "Sin City." I would be embarrassed to see how bad this is come out. Who knew you could make good actors say such stupid things? This will open decently then dropoff huge when people say how bad it is. "300" this is not. I mean the look of it, not the actual rating of the plot & film overall. We've seen this years ago.

goofy?

wow...anyways this second trailer is really engaging and gives more dept towards what to expect in December, and from that it looks like a really enjoyable popcorn movie pleaser. How does it look like a cartoon? This looks more surreal then Sin City will ever look, talk about looking cartoony. By the way Vinzouille am totally with you.

Shit looks good, man

Looks cheesy in the best of ways. Like what gridehouse was going for, but in comic book fashion. Ridiculous guns, crazy named characters, corny one lines, over the top stylization and stuff blowing up. looks like an adventure, and im fucking stoked

It's looking better to me.
The Octopus is my biggest problem..just doesn't look very much like a villain..

I'm not familiar with THE SPIRIT at all, so I can't judge it with preconceived knowledge, but it certainly does look like it'll be a lot of fun.

Those lines you thought were cheesy, while written they certainly appear that way, but when spoken sounded fine. Probably because the actors did their job and justified the words.

Once again, not familiar with THE SPIRIT, but it seems to me that everyone WANTS this movie to be bad so they can feel justified in bitching about it.

While my faith in this film isn't renewed 100%, this is definitely an improvement. I still would rather them keep the look a tad more realistic, but I think the cheapness the previous trailer exuded is gone.
