Strike Back below!
by: Dave Davis Feb. 4, 2008

What can three talented guys do with some WWII uniforms, an empty beach, some digital editing equipment and a shitload of spare time?

How about single-handedly (okay, triple-handedly) recreate the landing at Omaha Beach a la SAVING PRIVATE RYAN? This sort of thing epitomizes what aspiring and resourceful filmmakers can achieve with some skill and sheer force of will. Truly impressive.

Thanks to 'Fabian' for sharing with us war movie fans who might have missed it.

Extra Tidbit: Spielberg wanted several thousand extras for his SPR beach landing, but only ended up with a few hundred. Hooray for CGI!

Great stuff
Wow this was posted a while back on youtube and cgtalk... but none the less, its great to see Joblo linking it. P.S. These aren't guys off the street who just happened to make something excellent as some are making out... they are in the effects industry - they just work in TV work - they do some of the timewatch stuff too.

Wow, that's really impressive. I'm totally jealous, those guys deserve jobs at the top effects companies now!

I have to say that I knew what the outcome would be with the whole "running" and all of the other things. Very well made, this is very inspiring.

My God, that was f*cking incredible! For the entire first half of the video, I was thinking, "Okay, yeah, this is gonna look like a home movie of three guys running around in military uniforms." But goddamn, I have to say that I'm completely blown away! Mucho kudos!
