Passion poster/site

12.05.2003

Oh if only Jesus had a website. Especially one with a FAQ section. But where He is lacking in online presence, Mel Gibson is making up for it. The website for Gibson's THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST (Notice the added "THE" in the title now? Why is a "the" needed? I'm Catholic and I'm not really understanding that. Is there some other Christ we'd be confusing Jesus with? Not just any Christ, this is THE Christ...) has gone live with all kinds of interesting features. Most notably is the first officially sanctioned trailer for the film (available for download here) and the first poster for the film, which you can see below. Also added are a gallery of stills and a bunch of features where they encourage readers to spread the word, so to speak. I guess they're really relying on Catholic word-of-mouth to get this film out there. Not that it needs any more publicity with all the brouhaha over the film's content. Is it offensive or is it fair? We'll have to wait until February 25th (not coincidentally Ash Wednesday) to find out but get a glimpse of what to expect at www.thepassionofchrist.com.
