I just need to say something about people crucifying the dialogue of this film. I guess there are some crappy one liners in there but all of Cameron's films from Terminator to T2 to True Lies to The Abyss to even Titanic have their weak lines. It doesn't bother me however, because the actors are usually top notch where they make it passable. Cameron even said so in his biography and multiple interviews that he hates writing his screenplays and dialogue is his "weak point". What I don't get

What I don't get though is the random people that keep getting after the dialogue in this movie like it's something out of Transformers 2 or The Mummy 3.. honestly.. it's not even close to that bad. People just love to hate on things and cling on to certain elements when there isn't much else to hate.

Saw it once, loved it. I loved it more since I didn't have high expectations going into it.

I think that can really affect how much you like or dislike a movie. If you go in expecting to be blown away and the movie is subpar, then your likely going to have major criticism.

I went in with mild enthusiasm, and I came out blown away. I plan to see it once more in the theatre and of course buy blu when it hits shelves.

I have no desire to see it at all. I haven't seen many BIG movies, like Lords of Rings or Transformers. The only movie I have seen more than once in theaters is Pans Labrynth, I felt I was missing out with the subtitles I wanted to check it out again.

Avatar's plot may not be original. And people complain it looks too much like 2 or 3 other movies, which seems to be a good reason to hate the film, but surprisingly isnt a good reason to hate the Friday the 13th remake, which is like 300 other slasher flicks.

Avatar was never about originality. It looks great and beyond the CGI, the plot, even if predictable with average dialogues, is engaging with characters we care for. Stop pretending people love it blindly cause of the CGI and 3D. I

Stop pretending people love it blindly cause of the CGI and 3D. I actually think I would have enjoyed the flick more if I had seen it in 2D.

Avatar is no masterpiece. Its a solid flick with lots of qualities, and there is a lot to chew on. There are many themes.

Haters pretend we cant go pass the CGI, but they cant go pass the fact thats its not entirely original. But you loved District 9, which in my view wasnt very original. It stole ideas everywhere and made them its own, and thats why that film worked. So does Avatar.

It may not be an award winning screeplay...

...but c'mon! Riding dragons! Rhinos battle Mech-Suits! Big guns and warships! Space Ships! Explosions! Why do people feel the need to poo-poo this when it's obviously just a world-wide guilty pleasure?!?! I've seen it twice (once alone, then took my wife) and should another opportunity come up, I'll happily see it again... because of it's awesomeness. If you actually hated it, then I hope you someday find joy in something, but in the meantime- step back and let us enjoy this.

Only once. And I plan on never seeing it again... ever.

Sheesh, those 11 people who say they have seen it 5 times... that's 15 hours of your life, man!

I think its huge box office numbers are more due to the fact that so many people are seeing it period, not necessarily from repeat viewings. It's an "event" movie, so people feel left out if they miss it in theaters. On a separate note, I'm confused by all the Avatar hate. My guess is that some people just love to hate on movies simply because of their popularity. Last year, it seemed we never heard the end from the TDK haters, and now it's Avatar. Aren't there worse movies out there to hate?

Haters have to come out of the woodwork to fight people who are blindly in love with Avatar. I loved Dark Knight, but I do hate Avatar. No need to hate Chipmunks on the boards, cause it would be a one sided argument. Pointless.

I am just has confused by the positive reactions garnished by Avatar as you are by the hate. I thought people would see past the CGI to the lack of plot, interesting dialog, and substance of any kind.

If you would prefer, I can stop the hate and start jerking you off

I personally dont understand why people see ANY movie more than once in theater. Its expensive enough already, and even on DVD ... Who watches the same movie every other week-end ?

Zero times. I don't give much of a fuck about cinemas these days, they're horrible places full of moronic people I'd happily punch into comas.

Yes, I'm antisocial. I blame people.

Once...

One time, and I got the best part of it at the beginning.. the 3D technology is well done. But the glasses suck, and the movie is sub-par... what merits repeat viewings is beyond me. Movies like this make me realize we can end poverty in great parts of Canada and the US, and later the world. What a shitty movie to celebrate, but anyway.

ONCE

I like to look foward to DVD releases so even if the film is as good as AVATAR I'll usually only see it once, that way I won't be tired of the film before it comes out on DVD.

Special effects alone do not a good movie make. I couldn't care less about this movie.
