New Caine flick pics

It's weird how certain movies can just "slip under the radar" sometimes, even when I'm supposed to be in the heart of the upcoming movie news biz, day-in and day-out. THE STATEMENT, a film which opens in limited release this Friday, stars Michael Caine, Tilda Swinton and Jeremy Northam in what some are describing as a "Hitchcockian" thriller" by Oscar-nominated director Norman Jewison. Presented by Sony Pictures Classics, who've done a pretty lousy job of getting the word out on the film if you ask me, the film is based on the book of the same name. The plot sounds pretty interesting:

Set in modern day France, THE STATEMENT is the story of Pierre Borssard (Caine) who, as a young man during World War II, committed a heinous crime. Brossard has never been brought to trial and has lived a peaceful and anonymous life sheltered by right-wing elements within the Catholic church. A new investigation into his crimes is launched by an ambitious Judge (Swinton) and a scrupulous Colonel (Northam). Even though Brossard manages to outwit the state investigation, he is simultaneously tracked by mysterious hit men. With two hunters on his heels, this Brossard must try to stay alive and find out who is after him.
