Ratner helms Canon

12.12.2003

Brett Ratner will direct 20th Century Fox's JOSIAH'S CANON. Earlier this year, Ratner removed himself from the new SUPERMAN movie (read about it here) and hasn't looked back since. His current project, AFTER THE SUNSET for New Line Cinema, is due November 12th, 2004 starring Pierce Brosnan, Woody Harrelson, Salma Hayek, and Don Cheadle. After that, he'll start work on "Canon", a pretty original sounding bank heist film from the pen of Jeff King and Phil Alden Robinson. It tells the story of a Holocaust survivor that gathers together some of the best criminals in the world to get him into a high security Switzerland bank wherein lies Jewish valuables deposited  prior to the Holocaust. Ratner has also been linked to RUSH HOUR 3 (2005) with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, HONG KONG PHOOEY, and Cedric The Entertainer's comedy, TRACES. His previous work includes THE FAMILY MAN, both RUSH HOUR films, MONEY TALKS and RED DRAGON. For me, Brett falls into that "never really made a bad movie" category. I just wish Chris Tucker would get off his jock and go make something new.
