MOVIE POLL: What's your take on 3-D movies?

04.04.2010

What's your take on 3-D movies?

I love them in any which way or form!
I dig 'em but only if they film them in 3-D, not adjust afterwards.
I have no interest in 3-D films whatsoever!
I'm a little interested in 3-D films, but I think it's going overboard already. It makes sense for a few films, not all of them!
I have no opinion on the 3-D phenomenon.

All movies I've seen in 3D so far would have been as good or even better in classic 2D

I have no opposistion to 3-D as an idea, a means of immersing audiences, I'm just against the way it's being handled lately. Avatar aside with Mr. Cameron's attempts I have never seen a 3-D feature that has brought about excitement only possible with 3-D. Enviroments and characters around you, to your sides, in front of you, erasing the others around you and putting you "into the movie", these kind of realities are ones that I believe we won't see for a long while now, I think the new immersion

Have not seen enough 3D movies to have much of an opinion but I think it is cool so far.

I dig all 3D

Just saw Titans in 3D. It was converted over the span of a couple weeks, and the effects ranged from "this WASN'T shot in 3D?" to "ok, now I can see it," to "Oh God, my eyes!" As a huge fan of 3D (still have my first Viewmaster from 35+ years ago), I'll watch nearly all the natively shot 3D in the theater, and wait for the converstions to be released on Blu-Ray when I get a 3DTV and new Blu-Ray player... ...except for maybe Harry Potter, they will have had more time to convert it right...

It's pretty bad but I could be worse. At least we're not seeing movings like She's Out of my League or Inception in 3D. It seems for now likes it's still just confined to the blockbuster popcorn films for the time being and as long as we continue to have the option for 3D or not I don't really have a problem.

If people want to spend extra money to see movies in 3-D I have no problem with it. But I think that The Hurt Locker winning best picture over Avatar proves that 3-D does not equal better movie. I've enjoyed tons of movies without 3-D for years and I see no reason to jump on that bandwagon for now.

Is this a dumb question?

I have yet to see a 3D movie, I'm not 100% opposed to the idea, I just have a legitimate concern. I can only see completely out of one eye, my other eye sees only blurry. Does anyone know if I'd still be able to get the 3D effect of one of these movies or would I just be wasting my time and money? I just haven't heard any kind of answer yet and wondered if anyone else might have.

If I recall, I tried closing one eye when I saw Avatar and it still worked. BUT, it was at the Imax theater and its shot to be 3D, so I wouldnt know if it was converted and in a regular theater.

3-D does not work unless viewed with both eyes. It works by giving each eye a slightly different perspective which creates depth. You can close one eye when watching 3-D and see things without the overlapping images that you would see if not wearing the glasses but you won't see any depth.

So I don't know that 3-D would be worth it for you. I'm not sure how the blurriness of your one eye will affect the depth created by 3-D. But I do not that you need to be viewing with both eyes or it will

The studio execeutive who decided it was cool to bring back 3D needs to return to the 21st century ^ not the 50s, Avatar did it right, but everyone doing it is just plain wrong. Plus as I keep saying I wear glasses so its harder for me to see in 3D. I hate hopw fake Hollywood is.

Wow, first 'other'...

I think the 3D phenomenon is getting a little silly now that it seems that every blockbuster has to use the format. However, I don't hate it. It's just a little gimmick, it makes certain aspects of a film 'cooler' to look at, but it doesn't effect the quality of the film in any way.

3D is a cool concept but only for some movies. Movies like Avatar and Alice In Wonderland yes, but movies like The Clash of the Titans no. It has its positives and negatives, but not every movie should have 3D just because it can.

I hate the glasses

Avatar was pretty incredible, but I still get eye strain, the glasses are uncomfortable and often blurry, and I hate how the picture looks dim.

I am not a fan of 3D, it doesn't really impress me at all, in fact it is so gimmicky it is a little distracting and I hate having to wear the glasses for them. Its really annoying.

Well

As long as it's filmed in 3D and they release it both in 3D and 2D then hey go for it!
