Web critics awards!

I just said in the previous article about the PGA awards that I try not to report on every single award handed out cause it gets kinda tedious. But the Online Film Critics are important because our own JoBlo is a voting member. So you know you're getting quality here from a guy you can trust. And besides, they've got some different stuff winning awards instead of the same 5 movies, which seem to be winning all the other awards. Here's what the OFCS said in a statement:

"The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" won nine awards including Best Picture in the 7th Annual Online Film Critics Society Awards. The awards were voted by the 146-member Online Film Critics Society, the international professional association of Internet-based cinema journalists. "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" also picked up the Best Director Award for Peter Jackson, the Best Adapated Screenplay Award (for Philippa Boyens, Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh), Best Original Score honors for Howard Shore, and technical awards for achievements in Cinematography, Art Direction, Costume Design, Sound and Visual Effects. "Lost in Translation" won two awards: Bill Murray for Best Actor and Sofia Coppola for Best Original Screenplay. Naomi Watts was named Best Actress for "21 Grams," Peter Sarsgaard won Best Supporting Actor honors for "Shattered Glass" and Shohreh Aghdashloo won the Best Supporting Actress Award for "House of Sand and Fog." For more information, visit the Online Film Critics Society at www.ofcs.org."

A quick tip of the hat to JoBlo and his online partners for coming out with some sweet pics (although a tad heavy on the ROTK side for me), including some love finally for the beautiful Naomi Watts and Peter Sarsgaard. Here's hoping the Academy listens to what you're preaching.
