This guy seriously pisses me off. One shitty movie after another. I gave up after The Village. I want to see The Last Air Bender, but I am skeptical.

Wow, color me surprised. From everyone I know, they hated Unbreakable. For me, my fave was Signs. I just love his take on the alien story. It's a great, original tale that is played out brilliantly.

QUENTIN

Unbreakable is his best and Signs is also pretty great, though both have significant flaws. All the rest, including Sixth Sense, are abysmal.

I like The Village in terms that it gives a "surprise ending" vibe like the first time I saw The Sixth Sense. By the way, is Airbender that bad? Rotten Tomatoes has lots of negative review for this movie.

Unbreakable ... for now

I haven't seen Airbender yet, and I am actually a huge fan of the 'toon so this vote may change ...

Really People...Unbreakable?

You've got to be kidding me. Lets create a movie that so fucking dull no one will ever know that it sucks. I guess it really did work.

Signs if by FAR is best and ONLY good film. After the turdfest that was Unbreakable I was sure this guy was going to get canned but then he made Signs....the perfect Hitchcock alien invasion movie. And nowadays, he's back to being a hack.

I voted for The Village. Very effective and under-appreciated. Didn't like Lady in the Water or The Happening. Will never see Airbender.

Also...for people who think the Village's premise was original...I suggest you read the book Running out of Time. He obviously ripped it off.

It's amazing that so many people on here really LOVED The Happening. Seriously...that was a terrible movie... if you just take the performances and directing into account...not to mention the laughable storyline. I was laughing throughout that film at how it felt like a b-movie with a-list actors. It's almost like people are praising him just because he writes original ideas. I mean..the movie Thankskilling is an original idea...it's about a killer turkey. I've never seen that premise done

You say the film has a laughable storyline but I'm sure more people would say that about "The Ring." And it was meant to be a B-movie. If people weren't so stubborn, they'd realize the main reason the film works is because of the weirdness.

I like all of his films so far (in varying degrees) but Signs is probably the best, IMO, with The Village trailing behind and The Sixth Sense after that. I think he gets too much hate mostly due to the fact that people expect a Sixth Sense from every succeeding movie he made. All of his films are different and truly original.

Every One.

I love every one of his films. They're all very original and very well done in their own ways. We should be encouraging and promoting originality, not bashing on it because it "wasn't as good as The Sixth Sense". I love The Happening and Lady in the Water. The Village was a little hit-or-miss with me, but the others are all Classics. I appreciate and respect this man and shame on you all for doing otherwise.

Shame.

"They call me Mr. Glass"

Unbreakable is easily his best film. I also love Signs but it hasn't held up quite as well as. I honestly don't get all the love for The Sixth Sense, it's good but kind of boring. I actually liked The Village as well but hated the ending. Lady in the Water was stupid and The Happening was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I respect the fact that his movies are always 100 times more original than 80% of mainstream studio flicks.. and an interesting fact: The ending to sixth sense didn't come to him until his 10th rewrite of the script.

I love THE HAPPENING. I love LADY IN THE WATER. I love THE VILLAGE. I love SIGNS. I love UNBREAKABLE. I love THE SIXTH SENSE. I'm sure I'd also love WIDE AWAKE and PRAYING WITH ANGER, if I ever get to see either of them.

Why don't I say I love THE LAST AIRBENDER? Simply put: I haven't seen it yet. When I do, I guarantee you'll see that as another, EQUALLY-loved film.

What can I say? The man is talented - and people like these critics are helping promote unnecessary and undeserved

Choose for yourself, people - and if you still think Mr. Shyamalan's movies suck, well, good for you, but I won't be sold. The man can do no wrong in my book.

Unbreakable

Followed by The Village. I don't get what people have against the movie, the acting is solid, the twist is effective, and the 'creatures' are bad ass.

Village and Lady in the Water??!!

Really? Or are these people just being stupid? Those movies were fucking horrible! And even if you "liked" them....his BEST?! Oh god, I would love for someone to explain to me how those movies are his best.

The Village is like an experiment: A group of elders who have been indirectly harmed from society decides to separate themselves from it. They think "What if we cut ourselves from society? We won't have bad things happen anymore! It'll be like a utopia!" So they build themselves a town in a village thinking that their problems are gone forever. But low and behold, somebody in this village eventually commit a crime, something the elders were trying to escape from in the first place. With this

We won't have bad things happen anymore! It'll be like a utopia!" So they build themselves a town in a village thinking that their problems are gone forever. But low and behold, somebody in this village eventually commit a crime, something the elders were trying to escape from in the first place. With this scene, Shyamalan hints to the audience that humans are inherently evil and that we all are capable of doing such things and that we aren't influenced by what society does to us. Great philosophers like Plato and Socretes agreed with this. I think it's a great subject to talk about and what Shyamalan did with this film is amazing and brilliant, in my opinion.

Lady in the Water, on the other hand, is harder for me to explain why it's good. It's obvious it's M. Night's most "personal" film like how Funny People was Apatow's. I just love the message of the film and the diverse cast was really fun to watch. It's also a very, very, very sweet film with an ending that is so emotionally satisfying in almost every way. To see Cleveland, a sad man who's alone and whose family was killed, be redeemed is heartfelt. And the film is like a modern ET. Don't believe me? Look below:

Both ET and Story come to Earth. ET comes from another planet while Story comes from a mythical place called the Blue World. After staying with humans for a couple of days, they need to go back from where they came but there are other forces trying to prevent them from doing so (the government from ET and the Scrunts from LitW). While trying to go back to their own worlds, they both begin to die. The humans start to get depressed but both ET and Story eventually get healed. The humans make one last desperate attempt to bring them back to their worlds and succeed in overcoming the government and Scrunts.

Anyway, had LitW turned into an animated film, it would have been accepted. Had it took place in the 17th century, it would have been accepted. I just think it's stupid and ignorant of people to bash the film because it's a genuinely good one.

I voted for The Sixth Sense because I like movies that deal with the afterlife and ghosts. Unbreakable is a close second and The Village is my third favorite with Signs coming in at number four. Never saw Lady In The Water and The Happening was promising but dissapointing.

Jeez, I miss this guy making great films!

I feel like it's been a downward spiral! Last Airbender blew! The Happening never 'happened'! WTF? Sixth Sense, Unbreakable even Signs are some of the best films made over the past 10-15 years. Maybe he HAS lost his passion. Success does that, just look at professional atheletes that sign huge contracts - same shit.

I liken his fans to abused wives. yet the morons keep coming back for more.

How many bombs must this man make before the nerds stop blindly going down on him?

Most people in this world don't even get ONE chance at greatness. Take the reigns from this guy, and give them to someone thats still passionate and hungry.

BTW, Unbreakable is one of my favorite movies, and I gave the guy a chance for a near-decade.
