Project Green-lit!!

01.08.2004

Looks like someone was reading our 2004 wish list. Starting in early 2005 Miramax and LivePlanet will team with their new partner, Bravo Television to air the third season of PROJECT GREENLIGHT. The previous two installments of the show were brought to us by HBO and in my opinion were far and above any other reality television show on the tube. This Emmy nominated contest follows the progress of first time film makers through the entire process of making a feature film with the help of producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. It's a little unclear whether or not Chris Moore will be back to play the role of the enemy. The funniest thing about the show's premise is that both movies to be spawned from the competition have failed horribly at the box office and it was too obvious of an outcome if you watched the show with any regularity. The first installment's winner, Pete Jones (pictured with the wonder twins above), wrote and directed STOLEN SUMMER, a flick that was troubled on screen as much as it was off. The second season brought a new twist by holding two contests instead of one. Erica Beeney won the writing duties with her screenplay for THE BATTLE OF SHAKER HEIGHTS while Kyle Rankin and Efram Potelle earned the opportunity to direct it. Like I said, both movies blew. Each dealt with a young person's coming of age while next year, the nine 1-hour episode season hopes to get the chance to make a genre script such as a horror or thriller. Keep up to date with contest entry information and scheduling at ProjectGreenlight.com and BravoTV.com.
