Affleck beats on Brat

02.05.2004

Ben Affleck, whose plans to usurp world power were dealt a major blow after his well-publicized break up with the future Queen Lopez, has instead turned his focus back to acting. The pompadoured one will star in an adaptation of the Josephine Tey novel BRAT FARRAR for Univeral. The book was previously adapted for film in 1963 and retitled PARANOIAC. The plot follows a spoiled rich kid who's counting down the days until he can receive the inheritance from his father. But when the father dies, Affleck shows up claiming to be the family's eldest brother, who they thought had died many years ago. Is it really the brother? Or an imposter looking to get rich quick? Or is it just Ben Affleck? FIGHT CLUB writer Jim Uhls is adaptating the script and reportedly will stay more faithful to the novel than the '63 film did. Affleck could begin filming on the project after he wraps production on his next film GLORY ROAD with producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The Fleckster was scheduled to star in another project GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST for Disney but that project fell apart rather publicly and embarassingly for Affleck when it was rumored it was ditched due to his tabloid heavy persona. Gentle Ben can be seen next in the Kevin Smith dramedy JERSEY GIRL and this holiday season in SURVIVING CHRISTMAS.
