Definitely Nolan for Inception.

Least agreed with would be Mila Kunis for Black Swan. I've heard others lament this supposed oversight before, but I watched that movie and I don't see what was so "standout" about her that would merit a nod.

Eh, hem...

No one has said dick about Peter Weir's criminally underrated "The Way Back".

Ed Harris should have himself bronzed at this point. What's a guy halfta do to get a little love from the Academy.

Great performance in one of the best films of the year!

It's inexplicable that Tron didn't get nominated for visual effects and score, and Scott Pilgrim didn't, either. I just can't wrap my head around it.

Ryan Gosling for his great performance in Blue Valentine.

Obviously Nolan for Inception. Even if you didn't like the film _that_ much there´s no denying his awesomeness as a director for the film.

Daft Punk for Tron

I know many people loved it but I can't understand how True Grit got both best picture and directing. OK film, like 3/5, but it's not even near my top 10 of the year...but that´s just me.

No, that's also my thought on True Grit. And as far as Coen Bros. movies go, this one is next to last on my list, beating out only The Ladykillers.

Snub seems like the wrong word for the results of a vote. Nobody goes into it thinking "who do I dislike".

A nomination in any category would have been fine. It deserved SOME recognition, I thought.

Ryan Gosling

Best Actor for Blue Valentine

The single best performance of 2010 and it was overlooked. Fortunately his nearly-as-equally amazing costar got a nom, but Gosling definitely deserved to be in the race over the solid but one-note work of Jeff Bridges (didn't he win an Oscar just last year for playing a drunk looking for redemption?)

Yeah, lots of shit ommisions this year.
Tron for FX and score.
Oh poor Chris Nolan, I'm sure they'll suck his cock when the new Batman film is lauded as way better than it is.
Oscars are bullshit anyway.

Where the hell is The Tillman Story? One of my top films of the year. "I'm Pat F***ing Tillman! Why are you shooting at me?!"

Original Song

Scott Pilgrim definitely should have got a tip for best song. The original tunes in it were better than most of the nominees.

Garfield out for best supporting, for sure. Nolan didn't really have a chance for a nod, only reason Inception got the nod was because of the expanded "10 nominations" gimmick and to get people to watch. I loved the flick, but it's not a movie I assume the Academy would pick if it was just 5.

Only 2 fucking nomiantions for makeup? Why even bother with the award then? Is the Academy THAt far up it's own pretentious ass that they wouldn't even think of nominating a couple horror movies? Are those movies not at least eligible for some technical awards? Fuck the academy...

The four biggest mistakes the Academy made this year were not nominating Nolan for Director, Inception for editing, and Tron: Legacy for Original Score and VFX.

I voted for Christopher Nolan

not getting Best Director but Daft Punk's score for Tron: Legacy was as groundbreaking as Isaac Hayes' score for Shaft, IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up becoming as influential.

It's gotta be Tron not just for visual effects but for Daft Punk's original score as well. The other's are much more up in the air and or expected by the academy's backwards ways but I'd like to see someone logically argue that Hereafter had better visual effects than Tron: Legacy or Scott Pilgrim for that matter. I mean really can anyone give a decent reason. I'm sure that tsunami/ flood scene in Hereafter is worthy of some technical praise but come on Tron and Pilgrim relied the entire movie

I voted for other...

Tron legacy not being nominated for best score is bullshit. Cinema orchestra perfectly combined with house/techno music and it doesn't get nominated?! I'm also upset abou Andrew Garfield but Jeremy Renner being nominated eases that pain.

I voted for Nolan but to me Ryan Gosling for Blue Valentine was the biggest snub. Otherwise I don't think that the Noms are as bad as people are making them out to be. I'm happy to see Exit Through the Giftshop up for best Doc.

They are a fucking joke.

Once again this year, the Oscars have proved how much of a joke they are. How do you fail to give Christopher Nolan a Best Director nomination twice now, after The Dark Knight or Inception?

Meanwhile, The Coen Brothers receive a third nomination in four years. Yeah, they're great too but what a fucking cliche.

Thank you! That Daft Punk was left off the list for original score was jaw-droppingly bad. I will have to rewatch (listen?) to Alexandre Desplat's and John Powell's scores, but leaving Tron Legacy off seems brain dead at first glance.

oye

so last night i finally caught Blue Valentine, and I have to say it blows my mind that Ryan Gosling wasn't nominated for best actor. I mean he blew me away. i mean the politics is just astounding sometimes when you look at the oscars. Jesse Eisenberg get a nom for best actor, gosling doesn't?! i think andrew garfield should have been nominated over eisenberg for supporting actor. granted, i love and respect all of these actors. some major talent here. but i think these noms were a little off.

I voted for Nolan, though there's a few big ones. I would have preferred The Town get best pic than 127 Hours, I'd say Andrew Garfield shoulda been nominated, and Tron, though maybe not the best movie ever, visually it was pretty amazing.
