I hope 40 million or more.

I've mentioned this before. I saw the film at a press screening. It's neck and neck with the first Scream. It's funny, bloody, and makes a huge statement on the genre of remakes and sequels of today. The finale was nuts. Bravo Scream Team!!!!

My prediction

47 million. Could be a little more, could be a little less. I don't see it making less than 40, that's for sure.

I am gonna say 30 mil. Unless it's a huge blockbuster, that seems to be a good opening number for movies these days. If it makes more, I suppose that'd a good thing, but 30 mil sounds about right.

The Scream fanbase...

...is actually pretty diverse, as there are those of us who grew up watching the originals in theaters 15 years ago, and there are also the younger crowd who are in middle and high school now who've become fans from TV and DVD. Then there are the people that know a good slasher movie when they see one. I wouldn't underestimate the Scream franchise. Scream 3 was panned by critics but still opened to like $36 million back in 2000. I said north of $40 mil in the poll, which may be too optimistic,

I haven't seen a single piece of advertisement, on TV, on the net, or anywhere else. I predict a box-office bomb. A big one.

Man what channels have you been watching? I've been seeing tons of commercials this past week.

I voted for $41-50M

I would seriously be disappointed at the American people if it makes anything less. Let's bring the 90's back people! I want sequels to I Know What You Did Last Summer, House on Haunted Hill, and one of my personal favorites The Faculty!

It's tracking

at about 50 million opening weekend. Anyone that thinks it is going to make in the 20-30's is crazy. And over 100 people think 11-20? Wow. I guess they are just haters, because that is just insane/something I won't say on JoBlo.com about my fellow Schmoes.

I really have faith in Wes Craven this time other than the fact that I almost completely lost it when he released the horrendous and irritatingly bad Cursed and My Soul To Take which I haven't seen yet but it got a horrible rep and Scream 3 wasn't that bad and is growing on me now but it for sure wasn't all that like the first two films in my opinion. The Scream films and A Nightmare On Elm Street though seem to be what Wes Craven is an expert at doing and the most comfortable at doing and now

The Scream films and A Nightmare On Elm Street though seem to be what Wes Craven is an expert at doing and the most comfortable at doing and now that Kevin Williamson is pretty much mostly incharge of the story and writing I can't help but to think that this will be their biggest break since the first Scream. Will it make alot of money? I hope so they both deserve it after the dry spell since Scream 3 though Wes Craven's Red Eye was a tiny comback it wasn't really a horror movie. If this is a failure and is a bomb at the box office than that will be a huge shame and pretty much the last straw at a comback to form. I'm crossing my fingers that this will be great because I'm sick of getting my hopes up and end up being let down by most horror movies and it scares me that it hasn't recieved any reviews on rotten tomatoes which might mean that it won't be screened for critics and that's usually never a good sign.

Scream 2 and 3 weren't screened until a few days before they opened. Nothing to worry about in that regard at least.

Not my thing

I think there will be some people lined up for next weekend, just not me.

i say a lil over 30 mil & i will finally get my ass out to the theatre & watch this..the trilogy has a special place in my movie heart since the 1st one came out right after i finished hs. This franchise has the fan base that can appreciate both satire & genuine scares. Plus I'm curious to know who the killer will be & my instincts are telling its a main character from the original movies.

I don't think it will make a ton, since Rio is opening this weekend, and like me, most people will wanna watch that, or it's just me

I really don't see Scream 4 making much money at the box office. Sure it has somewhat of an established fanbase but its been ten years since the horrendous Scream 3 how many fans are actually left? Add in the fact that Wes Craven hasn't made a decent film since Red Eye in 2005. Not to mention the horrible trailers and tv spots for this film. Seriously if i didn't know any better I might think the ads for Scream 4 are actually for a parody.

Now maybe the film is good but I really have no

Now maybe the film is good but I really have no hope for it turning out good. Add in the all the trouble from the set with reshoots and no finished script and it gives me less hope. Just really don't know who they are expecting to show up to this film.

How many fans are left? What happened to them? Did all of them die in the past 11 years?

And the Scream series is a parody. It's a celebration of all the cliches in horror movies. I doubt Scream 4 is going to be a landmark for cinematic accomplishments, but it'll definitely make bank. I don't think anyone is expecting it to be great, it's just supposed to be fun. I have friends who don't like horror movies but want to see this just for the nostalgia.

Yes please tell me where to find these fans because right now Joblo seems to be the only place they are located. I haven't heard a single person express any interest in seeing Scream 4. The first and second films were pop culture hits. People went to see them because it was the cool thing to do. But you can't deny the fact that the third film left more than a sour taste in the mouth of most people. And after 11 years most of those people won't bother with this film. And the younger crowd that they are expecting to draw in don't care about the Scream franchise at all.

And just because the Scream films poke fun at horror films I don't see that as an excuse for terrible acting and cheesy as hell situations which is all I'm seeing from the previews.

You clearly don't understand the appeal of Scream, or horror movies in general for that matter.

Terrible acting? Cheesy situations? Welcome to the horror genre, try not to get stabbed in the ass on your way out.

The first Scream was sort of fun. I can't understand why there's a new one and I'm guessing that I'm not alone. It may have a strongish weekend but I doubt that it will be a huge success.

I have high hopes for Scream 4. I'm sure it'll make a fair amount opening weekend. I'm still kind of on edge about it though. The original trilogy means a lot to me (especially the first Scream) and I just really hope that the surviving trio wasn't put in Scream 4 to "pass the torch" and die. If that's the case, I won't be seeing 5 and 6 (if they're made).
