In news that isn't much of a surprise, The Hangover 3 is on the way

May. 31, 2011by: Niki Stephens

With THE HANGOVER 2 already breaking records over Memorial weekend, it should be no surprise that the third part of the trilogy is on the way.

Craig Mazin, who is responsible for writing the current installment is now hired to write the third and final installment. Mazin can also be credited with penning the scripts for SCARY MOVIE 3 & 4 as well as SUPERHERO MOVIE.

It's also been revealed by Jamie Chung that Amsterdam will be the possible destination for THE HANGOVER 3. This is what she told THR, “Probably Amsterdam. If you think of the coolest, craziest cities in the world, it would have to be Las Vegas, Bangkok and Amsterdam.” Justin Bartha added this, “Amsterdam could be a different kind of hangover. It could be fun. And Zach [Galifanakis] will probably already be there.”

Of course, Ken Jeong just wants to be in it, “I would absolutely do a third one [with] no fear of typecasting. All of my fame and success in the last few years is directly due to The Hangover. Those guys are like family to me, so it doesn't matter -- big part or small part… Well, I guess I know a thing or two about small parts.”

A third film has not been greenlit by Warner Bros. but it's only a matter of time.

Extra Tidbit: Mazin was once a contestant on Win Ben Stein's Money. He did not win his money--he was eliminated in the second round.

Amsterdam is indeed the coolest place.
i have an idea for the film, how abt these guys start in one european country for something important and end up being in different major cities in europe and and wake up in Spain....Hangover 3 begins!

Yes the second was pretty much the same (still liked it though not as epic), so I definitely do hope they change it up a bit for the third one. With that being said I've never cared more about a group of characters in a comedy as I do for these guys. Phil, Stu, and Allen rock!

The movie hit big, I'm not surprised. I just hope we get an original sequel instead of the original movie just reformatted for a different country. Both movies have failed to impress me.

All for this. The Hangover Part 2 is just as good as the original and would like to see them use the same formula as the first two to close out the story.

It's cool that it will be in Amsterdam this time, but I would have liked to have seen it somehow come back to Vegas and have the movies come full circle.

Should be great seeing Alan getting married this time around and hopefully having Doug in more of the movie this time getting into his own antics.

Hey, Ken? I'm sure Dan Harmon and the cast and crew of Community feel real great that they haven't attributed to your success at all. I'd rather watch you play an actual human character on Community than a one note aggravating joke in The Hangover films.

You do know 95% of the population know him from the hangover and not community. And Harmon is responsible for the Sarah Silverman program, so don't use him to preach about one note aggravating jokes.

As for the third movie

Guys go to Amsterdam for Alans wedding and end of losing Jeffery Tambors character (Alan's dad, those movies need more of him anyway). Along the way we find out that Alans wife is mail-order, and Chow is now a mole for Interpol and he drugs and uses them for the night. This could be really funny

wow that is actually not a premise about alans dad he needed more screen time in part 2) being the one who gets lost this time around, but im reading they are gonna try something different for part 3, they also need to get the wives involved more.

Its still good

the Formula works. the only thing that made 2 worse than one is its lack of personality. lines like "Indiana Jones has a Satchel" were really missing from the new movie. But it was still funny. It knows what it is and isnt trying to be anything else. It couldve been alot worse

Thanks, America

For showing Hollywood that you guys want the exact same crap over and over again. How about they get the original writers back so they can come up with something somewhat original this time around? The new one was horrendous.

I'm sorry I was bored on Memorial day and didn't want to see Pirates... I obviously should have consulted you on how I should spend my free time.

Kung Fu Panda 2? Thor? Hell, the original Hangover at home? Any of those would've been better.

Doesn't look like the writer is known for quality or originality, so I can't say I'm excited by this news. Wouldn't mind a "good" part 3, but I haven't seen part 2 yet so maybe I'll change my mind.

I am really not for a third installment. Especially if they keep the same formula. I already thought that the second one was beating the same jokes to death. I think the second one did not do the first one justice. If a movie does not need a sequel then it should not get a sequel. The Hangover was a film that did not need a sequel.

I knew The Hangover II was going to make a killing at the box-office, but I was very disappointed by the movie itself. I'm hoping they don't use the same formula as the previous two and take the film in a different direction. And I wish Jon Lucas was writing this one and not Craig Mazin.

I'm of the group that really enjoyed the second one probably as much as the first. It made me laugh so I would go see a third one. Personally, I don't think the "formula" should really be that different ie/ the investigative comedy. I actually think changing it up drastically for a third film would backfire. People are seeing the Hangover BECAUSE of the formula it follows not in spite of it.

I don't know if this a good or bad idea. On one hand people didn't expect The Hangover 2 to be smashing records like this. I, for one, didn't expect it. Still, if The Hangover 3 uses the same formula, people might get bored from it.
