I hope the movie will be a hit, because it deserve it. But the lack of knowledge among general audience about it, the bad promotion and the bad memories of X3 and Wolverine WILL do damages to XMFC's results. So it needs legs to become a success. Therefor I'm going with $51-75M...
Lets face it: GOOD MOVIES DO BOMB AND BAD MOVIES DO BECOME HUGE HITS !

This movie wont make close to 100mil. There is no big A list star power. Fox already put a bad taste in people's mouth with Wolverine and X3. Lack of Jean and Cyclops turned a lot of comic fans away from opening weekend.

Okay but not great results

I see it having legs, but not a huge opening weekend. All of my friends don't care for this movie at all and I actually have a lot of trouble convincing anyone to go and see it. It's gonna make about 50-60 mln in the first weekend but I can see it earning 150-200 mln when all is said and done, but that's just because you love your X-Men movies in America. Over here it might bomb pretty badly...

The hell are you talking about? We're talking box-office success, not my interest, however I clearly stated I am trying to persuade my friends to see it (since obviously I'm going to be seeing it myself). I was pointing out how low the interest in this movie is abroad in general. Many large cinemas won't even play it over here.
Next time try focusing more on the written text and less on being an overdefensive fanboy.

All of Geekdom will see First Class. Plus, the movie gets great reviews. So, more people will see this film. But, will a general audience know (or want to know) the characters? I went with $76-100M. This summer is an exciting time to be alive. Thor was great. Apparently, First Class is great. Super 8 and Captain America are coming up. I like 2011.

I hope it kills, but I just don't know. I loved it so much... and I want the sequels.

$76-100 M

Movie has been getting great reviews and looks like the best X-Men film since X-Men 2.

If Fast Five can make that much money (also being the fifth entry like X-Men: First Class) in one weekend, then a movie about mutant superheroes can make just as much if not more.

I really hope the pending success of this movie gets X-Men 4 going.

Yeah, it's that good, The_Soloist. It wiped that sour taste of X-Men 3 from my mouth. The best X-Men movie yet.

The movie has to be pretty amazing if X-Men: First Class is better than the great X-Men 2: X-Men United.

But Matt Damon isn't in it? Why would it be good?

Fox killed a lot of goodwill from the last two movies, so the opening numbers will be slightly disappointing, but I'm sure it will have legs in the box office if it's that good.

Guys, I just saw this movie last night (got advance screening tickets). This movie is Awesome! It's like a 1960s spy thriller set in X-Men universe. I thought this movie gonna sucks. It starts out a bit slow but it garners steam and what a ride! The recent Joblo review is right on - the newest king of Summer Blockbuster has arrived.

I haven't felt that good about any of these films so far. I know they're good but they just don't seem to be attracting people. Maybe the love affair with Super Heroes has finally worn thin with American Audiences.

Maybe I don't get out enough, but...

...I'm not hearing much audience excitement over this one. Regardless of how good the movie may be (I'll find out one way or the other in about an hour - I won't be surprised if I don't care for it but I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised by the Matthew Vaughn goodness, yay), I feel the ad campaign - trailers, posters, banners, etc. - has been boring and pathetic. I'm voting $26-50M.
