WB & Pixar?

03.10.2004

Ever since Pixar announced last week is was no longer negotiating with Disney to reteam on any future animated projects, speculation has been rampant as to where Pixar would call its new home. Virtually every studio in Hollywood, other than DreamWorks, which houses its own successful CGI-animation company PDI, was courting Pixar and scheduling meetings. Fox was originally considered to be a frontrunner despite their ongoing relationship with Blue Sky Studios (ICE AGE, ROBOTS). But now Warner Bros is making a serious play at Pixar talking in public about how they'd be the best fit. The studio confirmed they have met and had numerous talks with Pixar about teaming and that their DVD and home video department make them the best choice. Pixar has some time to make a decision and probably won't announce one any time soon. They'll continue to meet with studio heads to discuss which pairing would be best for them and which will agree to their terms. Disney and Pixar still have two films left under their original contract, THE INCREDIBLES and CARS. Disney has also said it may proceed with a TOY STORY 3 even after Pixar leaves, which would be a very, VERY bad idea. Pixar is reportedly actively developing their post-Disney films, which have been rumored to include one about a mouse living in a restaurant kitchen.
