Four way tie

Between Kung Fu Panda 2, Fast Five, X-Men: First Class, and, of course, Transformers 3.

It's been Thor and X-Men and then everything else far behind. What a MARVELous summer so far.

I picked X-Men too but I was shocked to see it was the favorite (so far) by such a wide margin.

I'm a bit amazed at the love going towards "First Class". It was decent. What did I miss there that everyone else saw?

However, "Thor" and "Midnight In Paris" so far.

Have yet to see "Priest" or "TF3".

I only saw 5 movies this Summer so far:

1. Super 8
2. X-Men: First Class (Best Marvel Film)
3. Thor
4. Transformers 3
5. Green Lantern

I want to see Fast Five and Bridesmaids, though.

Accurate Enough

For me it's Super 8, X-Men, then Thor really close behind X-Men

its a lot easier to be good when you are expected to be shit

Super 8 on the other hand was expected to be amazing and lived up to the hype... best summer movie by far

Attack the Block

Okay, I admit it hasn't come out yet (I saw a preview screening) but it's my #1 so far. Imagine a south London version of Super 8, and John Boyega has serious star potential.

Pretty damn shocking that First Class is a lot of people's, including my own, summer favorite. I think many were expecting it to sort of suck, so it exceeded everyone's hopes.

Still haven't seen Tree Of Life or Super 8, and there's still Cap to come, of course..

Completely agree with you - I wasn't very excited to see it for some reason, then I read Bumbray's review which motivated me to see it, and now it's my favorite movie of the year so far. One of the few movies of the year where I was 100% submerged into what I was watching.

Yep, same here. I actually saw it twice, something I rarely do anymore (probably since Dark Knight in '08)

Tree of Life gets my vote, but if we're just talking 100M+ Tentpole Blockbustes, First Class, for sure.

Well 5 out of the top 6 isn't bad. Though really my fave so far is still my guilty pleasure of the year. Fast Five. To me it's fun seeing everybody from 10 years back together, there was history.
Transformers was dull until my second home was destroyed, but I did get to see it at Kennedy which was cool. Green Lantern wasn't bad but wasn't Marvel good. X-Men was very good. Thor was fun and was pretty cute seeing Portman and Helmsworth going googoo eyes.

14 - 1 is a pretty awesome record, though. I also have to say that, if Cars 2 had come from Blue Sky or DreamWorks Animation, it would have gotten better reviews. But it was a massive disappointment from the studio whose previous films were classics like Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up and Toy Story 3.

Would I be a stickler if I questioned the validity of "The Tree of Life" and "Midnight in Paris" as "summer movies"? Either way, they're my two favorites of the year so far. As for the rest of the list, I'd go with Green Lantern followed by Super 8... followed by Bad Teacher, I guess. Haven't seen Cars 2, Priest or The Hangover Part II.

Why wouldn't they be? They were both released during the summer season. Just because they aren't huge CGI tentpoles doesn't meant they aren't 'summer movies', just not summer tentpoles, big difference.

I literally have only seen 1 movie this entire summer. How lame is that? And I'm not gonna further lose any dignity by telling what that movie was...

Fantastic! At least 24 other people voted for Midnight in Paris! That's great news in my book.

What? No 13 Assassins? Blasphemy. Out of those, I picked Super 8, but 13 Assassins has definitely been my favorite of the summer so far. Heck, it's one of my fave for the year.

Thor

To be far the only ones ive seen from this list are pirates 4, transformers 3, Cars 2 and thor. Back in the day a pixar movie normally wouldve been my first pick (sigh). It wasnt a BAD movie by any means it just wasn't great like pixar movies normally are. THats all ill say about it. I really wanna see Super 8 and X-men, but lately all ive been thinking about is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I, can not wait . . . for that shit!

How about the Fathom Events re-release of the Lord of the Rings Extended Cuts? It was a pricey experience, but worth it. Otherwise, First Class by a mile.
