First footage and posters from Andrew Niccol's sci-fi thriller In Time have surfaced!

Jul. 22, 2011by: George Merchan

I was being somewhat glib the other day when I posted the first images from Andrew Niccol's upcoming sci-fi thriller IN TIME. The images felt generic and I didn't care for the film's newfound title.

But after seeing this new 4-minute promo reel of the film out of Comic Con (not to mention 3 new posters), I've very quickly done a 180. Niccol's film feels tense and thought-provoking, and is just about what I think we wanted when we first heard the guy who did GATTACA was coming back to science fiction. Great stuff.

IN TIME - starring Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Alex Pettyfer, Cillian Murphy, Johnny Galecki, Matt Bomer, and Vincent Kartheiser - opens October 28th.

Synopsis: Welcome to a world where time has become the ultimate currency. You stop aging at 25, but there's a catch: you're genetically-engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. The rich "earn" decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal, while the rest beg, borrow or steal enough hours to make it through the day. When a man from the wrong side of the tracks is falsely accused of murder, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage. Living minute to minute, the duo's love becomes a powerful tool in their war against the system.

Pretty People: The Movie

I can't even take Timberlake seriously as a heterosexual, let alone an actor.

Looks fresh, new and exciting. I'm sold. And I dropped my jaw when I heard Syntax playing. Love that band. Huge props to the trailer editors.

for anyone doubting Timberlake (like me)

as a sci-fi/action star or whatever... just remember a little guy named Leonardo DiCaprio, he transfered quite well from romance and dramatic pictures to more action/sci-fi pictures -- Timberlike could very well do the same, even though I can't picture it right now -- but we've been surprised in the past.

Timberlake is great i dont know why everyone wants to hate give the guy a break did no one see him in The Social Network or Friends with benefits?? This film looks awesome i just hate that this clip or trailer or whatever was 4 minutes long. Thats waay too much. We pretty much got to see how the film started.

In Time an original sci-fi story? Haven't anyone seen Logan's Run?

Not quite the same. The context is a little bit different. Both movies seemingly offer a social commentary on the whole anti-aging movement but by using time as a currecy in "In time" they comment on the most extreme forms of capitalism as well!

Like everything about this film except Timberlake. I seriously doubt that they couldn't get anyone better for the male lead for this film.

Wow didn't even no about this.

But I am super stoked for it now. Timberlake is a mad man I swear, LOL he's in so many movies, and they just keep getting better and better. Wilde is in this too, and she looks so damn beautiful in this movie. If I had her for a wife, I would be the happiest person alive, seriously. Oh then to top it off they throw in cillian, that guy is an amazing actor too. And Seyfield, oh and I did i mention the fuckin plot and movie looks so damn crazy. I love movies like this.

I love sci-fi and love flicks like Gattaca. So I think I'll be checking this out. Even still, it looks interesting enough.

I stopped the trailer after two minutes when I realised I was seeing the whole film. Did anyone else have the end of Surrogates ruined for them because they had seen the trailer?

Wasting 2 hours of my life?

Interesting concept, kinda reminds me of something Philip K. Dick might have written. Andrew Niccol has written some excellent stuff, so i have faith in this.

Also this reminds me of Surrogates/Repo Men, which had great concepts too, but failed to make an impact.

ok

i wasnt keen to the idea of the movie at first but that trailer is making me warm up to it. The first half of the trailer anyway. once Amanda Seyfried showed up, it looked like "iRobot" or "Minority Report" or any other near futre action movie. not bad but nothing special either.
