More from Dracula

03.18.2004

Jason Henderson's SWORD OF DRACULA comic series is just about as hot as a property can get. Chuck Gordon's Daybreak Productions and Adrian Askarieh's Prime Universe Productions have optioned both the feature film and TV rights while Critical Mass Interactive is developing the video game. Producer of the movie, Daniel Alter, recently talked to Fangoria about the specifics of the film. "The movie version of SWORD OF DRACULA will be like RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK with vampires," Alter tells Fango. "The story takes place in modern times, where American forces compete with another superpower country to find Dracula’s tomb. The object is to use Dracula’s strengths for modern warfare. Vampirology becomes part of a military agenda." The magazine also adds that the producers hope to sign a major writer and director shortly and the names on the short list for the role of Dracula include the likes of Jude Law and Hugh Jackman. I'm a little more interested in the casting of the comics heroine, Veronica “Ronnie” Van Helsing pictured here from SwordofDracula.com where you can find everything you need to know about the story and it's characters, including a trailer for the comic. Yes, a trailer for the comic. Just click on her giant gun(s) to have a visit.
