Toss up at the moment

I'd say either Rise of the Planet of the Apes or X Men: First Class. Both were great films. However, I have yet to see Super 8 so that maybe in the running as well.

funny how...

the one x-men film that didn't make that much ended up being everyone's favorite xmen movie.

Well, I only saw 3 movies this summer, so I went with X-Men. Still need to catch Cap in theaters..

I voted for Super 8. X-Men: First Class is a close second and Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Thor are tied at third.

I didnt get to see most of the summer movies.. From the few I did see. X-men/Fast Five and Harry Potter. Fast Five was imo by far the most fun of the bunch. Rock and Diesel throwing down is just unmatched by anything else.

Definitely, without a doubt 'Green Lantern'. Movie was everything I hoped it would be.

'The Change Up' comes in at second. Great way to end the summer.

Captain America. No contest. Right amount of action, drama, heartwarming, and all topped off with the perfect amount of cheese.

"...I guess we can finally ask you the big question: what was your favorite movie this summer?"

LOL! Hasn't this question been asked about 3 times already so far this summer?

I can't decide what is my favorite between The Tree of Life or A Better Life or The Help. But I also loved Larry Crowne, X-Men: First Class, Cowboys & Aliens, Super 8 and Bridesmaids. As far as I'm concerned it's been a pretty damn good summer.

ROTPOTA was the film of the summer with Thor a close second. Thor won out on fun but ROTPOTA was the most emotional and spectacular film.

Overall, X-Men First Class got my vote, because I wasn't expecting it to be as much fun as it was. They did a decent job of dragging that franchise out of the mire, regardless of elements that irked fans of the comics.
Had a great time watching Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes too - love a good monkey movie.
Thought Captain America, Thor and Green Lantern were all okay in their own way, but all three have plenty of ground to make up in their sequels.
Deathly Hallows part 2 was a functional end

Deathly Hallows part 2 was a functional end to the series, but not much more. Really didn't grab me as much as some of the other Harry Potter films, including Deathly Hallows Part 1. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't fantastic either.

Green Lantern isn't on this list because few people liked it. I'm one of them.
I'm not saying it was a good movie but personally I enjoyed it as much as most of the movies on this list.

First Class was my favorite, it turned out better than even my most optimistic expectations. I missed out on Super 8 and a few of the others, but I'll definitely be picking up the blu-rays.

It was Bridesmaids but I just watched Crazy Stupid Love and I enjoyed the crap out of that move. Put Carell and/or E.Stone in a movie and I will watch it. With that said it was my favorite movie so far this year.

It's a toss up between Hannah and 13 Assassins. Both were fantastic and my top two contenders for top film of 2011. However, out of all those listed, Super 8 is probably my fave.

Is "2011 better than 2010"?

I might not quite agree with that statement. Remember last summer had great films like Inception, Scott Pilgrim, Toy Story 3, Iron Man 2, etc. 2011 had a lot of great films (my fav being First Class, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Kung Fu Panda 2, Midnight in Paris) but those listed, I feel, don't best the aforementioned 2010 flicks. Though I admit 2010's high point was its fall/winter lineup with True Grit, Social Network, 127 Hours, Black Swan, Tron Legacy, etc. So idk I might have

I'm one of those uber, sometimes weirdly eccentric, Harry Potter fans the kind that checks his email too many times a day to see if his pottermore confirmation letter is in yet, dresses up for every midnight movie, has a (few) wand(s) and actually had to stop for a moment to wonder what life was going to feel like without anymore Potter films coming out.

With that being said, it would be ridiculous for me to count The Deathly Hallows: Part II in this vote. So I didn't and voted for X-Men:

The Devil's Double is so far the best movie I've seen all year let alone the summer. Super 8 comes in at number 2 for me. As a whole though I've been pretty disappointed by most of the movies I saw this summer (Thor and Captain America especially).

was my favourite movie this summer. Both the wife and I came out of that flick raving about it. Other than that, I'd have to say Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and yeah, Fright Night was surprisingly good.

Yeah, I can say with absolute certainty that 2011 was much better than 2010. On the other hand, 2012 will blow every other year out of the water.

Best: X-Men First Class
Worst: PotC: On Stranger Tides

I knew first class would be good. I knew thor would be good. I knew Captain 'merica would be good. TF3 should have been utter shit, given TF2, but it really wasn't. Not even 'Merica made me cheer in the theatre, but the last 20 minutes or so was some of the best battle sequences and epic visuals of the past several years. It got a bigger reaction out of me, since I kinda figured it'd suck, thus it's my fave.

I had some minor issues about changes from the book, but there's no denying it was a great movie. Horrbile Bosses, Apes, and Fast Five were great and better than expected.
