A trippy trailer for House at the End of the Street with Jennifer Lawrence arrives

Mar. 29, 2012by: Paul Shirey

For everyone who is still "hungering" for more Jennifer Lawrence after seeing her in some little known movie currently in theaters, the trailer for her new film, HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET should tide you over for a bit.

It's a very MEMENTO-ish trailer with lots of reverse imagery, heavy breathing, wide eyes, and beautiful, beautiful boobies in a tight shirt. Also, an unfortunate confirmation that the film is rated PG-13.

Get acquainted with the neighbors:

Meh, looks all right, I suppose, but let's be mature about this; the real sell is Jennifer Lawrence and that white tank top.  As a kid, one of the biggest selling points for horror films was the likelihood of seeing the leading ladies boobs.  It didn't always happen, but you had a much better chance with an R-rated slasher flick than with others.  However, that ugly PG-13 robs me of that hope.

I can't sit here and champion how great the story looks, because unless they have some kind of M. Night Shyamalan ending in this thing, the trailer pretty much lays the whole damn thing out.

Here's an official synopsis to get you caught up:

Seeking a fresh start, newly divorced Sarah (Oscar®-nominee Elisabeth Shue; "Leaving Las Vegas," "Piranha 3D") and her daughter Elissa (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Lawrence; "X-Men: First Class," "Winter’s Bone") find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town. But when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Sarah and Elissa learn the town is in the shadows of a chilling secret. Years earlier, in the house next door, a daughter killed her parents in their beds, and disappeared - leaving only a brother, Ryan (Max Thieriot, "My Soul to Take"), as the sole survivor. Against Sarah's wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with the reclusive Ryan - and the closer they get, the deeper they're all pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined.

HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET opens on September 21, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: It always brings a smile to my face to see my beloved Elizabeth Shue appearing in a new film. She is and always will be one of the best childhood crushes from the 80's.

I dig Jennifer Lawrence but that was an awful trailer. I mean I'm down with reverse-motion stuff when it has a reason/makes sense, but 1. it was way overkill in that trailer and 2. does it actually have anything to do with the film or was it just a way to make mundane visuals look better?

I also didn't get any sense of the horror elements, just a lot of close-up shots of nothing cut into such short pieces there's nothing to see.

She looks like Katherine Heigel at certain times to me in this trailer. Jennifer Lawrence is better though.

I stopped watching the trailer at 1:46 because I got bored, if this helps anyone from promotions.

great

Jennifer Lawrence is the next big hollywood star...and she's super funny (check out funny clips on youtube) and seems very down to earth.
Dunno if this movie will be any good... twist ending = brother was the one who actually killed the entire family

Unfortunately generic looking, but the trailer itself is actually somewhat intriguing in narrative structure. But there is a definite Psycho vibe going on here. Talented cast aside, this is exactly the kind of movie I go out of my way to avoid.

Wrong jennifer lawerence killed the family. Or she is actually the sister. Kind of like that movie where the girl killed the family and she wasn't real at the end. I forget the name

Jennifer is enough of a selling point for me to cough up those $13 on opening night. But it doesn't hurt that the movie doesn't look as awful as I thought it would.
