How do you feel about this trend of "teasers for trailers?"

I love it - they really amp up my excitement
Eh, they are what they are - I'll watch one if I find it
I like not knowing what's coming, so I just don't bother to watch
They can f*** off and never come back
Other - tell us below!l

Lame marketing ploy and a waste of money and space. What it tells us is that trailers are so huge now, we need a trailer for the trailer, and that's lame. Just do what Abrams does. Show us enough in a teaser to whet our appetite for a great movie. Some movies, I suppose, need to show more to sell, but don't put out some lame teaser for a trailer. A trailer is NOT the movie, so don't play it up like it is. Just show the trailer or don't.

It really depends on the alternative. I mean, OBVIOUSLY we always want more for the films we're anticipating. Similarly, we'd prefer a full trailer to a teaser. So, to my mind, a "trailer for a trailer" is better than nothing, but not as good as a real trailer. I don't get the hate, really, it's just good advertising.

Even worse is the current trend of putting a commercial on at the beginning of a trailer. A trailer is a commercial so you're being forced to watch one commercial in order to see another.

Stupid marketing idea to build cheap hype. Teasing a teaser is just dumb.

Hate it

it needs to stop now before every movie does it.

Too late, since they're already doing it for the Total Recall trailer. And you know that's not gonna be good. (releasing in August, Colin Farrell's blockbuster track record, and Len Wiseman being slightly just a hair above Brett Ratner in directing capabilities)

I like Teasers b/c they wet the appetite without revealing anything. Today previews go three minutes long with almost an entire evolution of the story. I love going into films knowing almost nothing about them.

Twitter-paced world

In order to attract attention to a movie nowadays amidst the growing number of entertainment sources available at our fingertips, I can see why marketing execs would take this tack. It's almost like a TV spot, but in reverse order. Usually they cut the full trailer down as it gets closer to the release date to emphasize the selling points of the film. That seems to be what they're doing here...though I would argue too much is given away in any form of these teaser/trailers in this day and age.

It's overkill.

I'm guilty of watching the teasers for trailers for Prometheus but it's annoying more than anything else. Just release the damn trailers and let them speak for themselves.

When done sparingly, it may be okay I guess but, like 3D, it appears to be a trend now.

I know that one can argue that if you don't want it, just don't watch it.

However I think these previews for trailers are ridiculous and ruin the mystery/surprise of what you'll see in the official trailer.
