That scene in the batcave where Wayne atfirst got overwhelmed by all the bats but then slowly standsup with his eyes close & hands widen to feel and relish their presence, is to this day give me chills. No other superhero origin can beat that.

Yeah me too. For some reason its starting to be the cool thing to hate on Nolan lately. Movie fans are like farts they dont have minds of their own and just blow whichever way the breeze takes em.

Sigh it was hard for me but I chose Spider-Man & the first 2 films were solid comic films & i still say this new reboot or so-called untold story can kiss my ass.

It's Donner's Superman. Considering that it has been the blueprint for superhero movies since it came out in 1978, it has 34 years on all the other contenders mentioned.

Batman Begins. I'm a big fan of Burton's Batman, but it didn't explore the origins of Wayne too much. Bruce Wayne is a great character, and Nolan gave him his due in Begins. My only worry w/ Dark Knight Rises is that Batman will get lost behind more screen time for Bane, Catwoman, and whoever JGL is playing. But I'm sure it'll be a great movie none the less.

Batman's mythology does all the heavy lifting in Begins, which was stylized but ultimately pretty tedious... It's only real contribution is the lead-in to The Dark Knight.

I feel bad for Spider-Man. It's not getting enough love here. Everyone loved Spidey untill part 3. After that, people somehow forgot how well-made the first two movies were.

I personally loved Unbreakable. Strong setup for what could have been an excellent superhero saga. Instead, we got Signs, The Village, Lady in the Water... The Happening... The Last Airbender...

Istill enjoy M Noights movies up to signs even with the lackluster ending, but then after The Village his movies are just so egomaniacal, but i do have a soft spot for Last Airbender, ya i said it bitches.

DEFINITELY can see why Batman begins is taking this, but i voted for superman. The first superhero movie ever made, and it was done very well, and done without any learning curve from previous super hero movie films. Todays superhero films have the luxury of learning from others mistakes, and taking what worked in this film, and applying it to their own.

i never do this but its the second time i've seen this on this same article...its "definitely" not "defiantly." im hoping this was just a bad case of auto correct or something, but in today's sad world, you never know!

sorry Bane, i have autocorrect on my macbook. Incorrect grammar, and spelling bothers me as well.
@Antoine.. no i was referring too Richard Donner's 1978. I still stand by my comment, in regards to it being the first superhero movie made I'm not putting 1920's Zorro in this class, or Nor a ventures of superman in 58, or golden bat in 66. I feel what Donner did, was extremely well done and sets itself apart from relier films that didn't raise the bar at much of a level. Secondly, never

Secondly, never really understood why people have to be rude in their replies. Can simply ask if i knew of other movies prior too, or direct me in saying "hey you should check out..".
definitely agree with you there snoop, (only that it was better than wolverine. Wolverine's origins barely touched on anything except a 5min back story when he was a child followed by a 5 min montage of him through wars)

Even though he's not my favorite comic book character overall, best onscreen depiction of the origin story belongs to Iron Man. The power meter finally breaks 100%, sparks fly, the lights go out, and all you hear is the whirring of the suit as Tony steps forward into the dark. Don't tell me that didn't send a shiver of excitement through you the first time you watched that.

For me it was between batman begins and iron man, closely followed by superman. Iron man was great but BB had more substance and was equally as good, if not more, than the 2nd half of the movie.

I had to go with Batman Begins, as the previous poster mentioned the fact Nolan took an hour to delve through the transformation from Wayne to Batman is unmatched by any other super hero origin story.

I had to go with Hellboy. That opening scene was perfectly done, succinct and very cool. Batman will win but that took a whole hour to nail down and its a very difficult comparison.

call me old fashioned, and i'm giving away my age here, but i was 8 years old when i first saw Superman: The Movie and that was the perfect age...but I'll understand if Batman Begins takes it.

Iron Man is the best followed by Spider-Man to be sure.

But Iron Man is still the best origin movie so far. How can you go wrong with Downey Jr. and Jeff Bridges as a villain?
