As long as it's not an origin story (PLEASE NO !) I'd like to see HUSH if we keep it 'real', if the fantasy side of BATMAN is coming to the screen, then Killer Croc or ClayFace.

Agreed with those who say 'Arkham Asylum/Arkham City' should be the feel to embrace. Embrace the wider, more fantastical elements to the Batman story.

So in that vein...I'd enjoy a one-two punch of Black Mask or Hugo Strange with a Man-Bat, Killer Croc, or Clayface. Perhaps, for good measure, properly tell Robin's origin story a la 'Dark Victory' with Tony Zucco.

Keep the Batman Films coming...

I love the Batman films (except Batman and Robin)!! I'd like to see (in no particular order):

Clayface
Killer Croc
The Riddler (done right)
The Joker (eventually)

I also want to see them really focus on Batman's detective skills.

I love the all black but am I the only one who would be interested for them to try the classic gray and blue combo?

There needs to finally be a live-action Batman family. The Schumacher movies were on their way to that with a Batgirl and a Robin, but nobody wanted to see that version develop into a proper Bat-family. I'm with everyone saying the reboot should embrace an Arkham Asylum/City feel where the dark and the gritty marry the fantastical and the strange very well.

As for villains, I'd love to see Man-Bat. For some reason, that classic movie monster thing could really work as a Batman story given

As for villains, I'd love to see Man-Bat. For some reason, that classic movie monster thing could really work as a Batman story given the right context. One proposed reboot, Batman DarKnight, had Man-Bat commit crimes that would be ascribed to Batman, luring the latter out of retirement. Interesting idea. It would be cool if Man-Bat was a pawn of Hugo Strange, you've got a great mad scientist team-up there.

I also think the assassins should have their day. Bring in Deathstroke, David Cain, Deadshot and do a comic book murder mystery with the Bat-family. Eventually.

After Nolan's trilogy, depending on the ending, I think a "Batman Beyond" type trilogy would be cool. We know Bale isn't coming back, so you can recast the part with a much older actor, and have him mentor a new Caped Crusader. Think Batman meets Blade Runner.

Either that, or make Night Wing the center for a trilogy and have Batman retired. Maybe something major happens that causes him to come OUT of retirement and help Nightwing out.

If they are going to reboot, and start from scratch,

If they are going to reboot, and start from scratch, PLEASE build up to a Superman Batman team up movie (using the universe created in "Man of Steel). Give Flash his own movie, Do a second Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds (just fix the mistakes made in the first one). That gives us three right there. You can introduce Martian Manhunter in the second Green lantern movie (since he's on that same "Universal" scale as the Green Lantern Corps.)

That's 5 JLA-ers right there, and could be done fairly quickly too, without sacrificing quality (of course, this is DC we are talking about, they may not be able to handle this.)

If DC IS trying to work up to a Justice League movie...

Don't have the first solo movie be Batman. I guess it'll really come down to how well Man of Steel goes over. Look at what Marvel did with Avengers. Start off with a major player (Iron Man/Superman), then introduce someone less popular to the non-fanboy audience (Thor and Hulk/Aquaman and Flash), and finally build up to the actual team movie with the team's centerpiece (Captain America/Batman). This would give us a good five or six years AT LEAST before we see another Batman film.

I would like a Hugo Strange story that stretches into a trilogy with Hugo "behind the scenes", kind of like Arkham City I guess.

Batman sure needs some time off for at least good 5 years. Then.. maybe.. something in the line of Arkham Asylum where he has to face an almost impossible situation.. but for the love of God.. NO MORE ORIGIN TALES PLEASE! We'll all know the guy too well by now

Amidoinitrite?

- ok, for reals

I don't want to see a new Batman movie for a good long while. What I could see working is like a big budget TV show with like a Sherlock format, a 3 90mins episode season, and my personal favorite rogue is Professor Pyg, whom I think is so wonderfully insane and would be amazing to see.

If this Reboot is For a Justice League

Id like to have a Batman character that is so dark, and extremely manipulative as possible so as a fresh but real new take on the character. Based on The Batman in Justice League, he uses everyone for his own advantage, and manipulates them all as he sees fit.
That being the case i don't want to see a villain thats mutated (i.e the debacle that is the Lizzard in The Amazing Spiderman reboot). id love to see Professor Hugo, a fresh new character with no relation to anything done in the

Maybe Deadshot for the second film. Only cause Batman, and Gordon work together to bring him down, so it seems to soon to establish that working relationship between the two. Also they can use 2 villains in the second film: Deadshot, and who ever hired him to kill the Bat.

just my opinion on a reboot.

Make it like the "Arkham" games, keep it dark and gritty like it should be but also delve into the more fantastical elements. Start out with Mr. Freeze perhaps. Plus, I think Mark Strong would totally rock as Mr. Freeze. Also, they can take this as an opportunity to kick off The Justice League. However, they should probably give it at least 10 years before rebooting.

I like a suggestion I read somewhere, maybe on this site, maybe somewhere else, and make a direct sequel to Batman Returns with an agin Bruce Wayne/Batman, bringing back Michael Keaton in the title role. For this to work, it would need a new villain, but a classic one at the same time, maybe Scarecrow or The Riddler. If not, I have no idea, cause I'm not much into comic books and the only villains I know are from the films or the animated shows, which I don't remember much.

fantasy

I want to see them delve into some of the more fantasy elements of Batman with the reboot, and step out of the Nolan/dark and gritty world (which was great, but lets leave it at the trilogy, cause after that everyone will just say the new movie isn't as good as the Nolan one, so at least make it DIFFERENT enough so that the comparisons aren't likely to happen)

I SEE FEW OPTIONS FOR BATMAN ...

... in the future: 1. a reboot, if sooner (2-3 years), then no origin story + unseen villain from Nolan's trilogy, if later then anything goes, 2. "one off" story like The Dark Knight Returns, unlikely because you have to establish universe for more future films 3. a set-up for Justice League, Amanda Waller as DC's Nick Fury, origin story told in flashbacks, Joker as villain survives to be in Justice League. First option is the most realistic, the question remains when? Because if TDKR will be

Well unfortunately if DC wants to try and get anywhere close to Marvels level with movies, they're gonna have to reboot Batman (in my opinion). So in this case, I would go with having Huge Strange as the villain, he was featured in the Arkham City game, so people who played the game and don't know much about Batman would see the movie, and if done right, Batman fans will come as well.

Red Hood

I would love to see a live action version of Under the Red Hood. If that can't happen, then the reboot should focus on Robin/Nightwing. The Boy Wonder deserves better than Chris O'Donnell and Joel Schumacher.

Riddler and Mr. Freeze

As much as I was actually entertained by Jim Carrey, I'd like to see the Riddler re-done with a more serious tone. And I'd like to see Mr. Freeze done correctly as well, because there was nothing right about the way Schwarzenegger did it.

A reboot you say?

A reboot this early on could only mean they are trying to set up a Justice League movie to bank off the success of the Avengers. So the Batman movie leading up to it can not be anywhere near the style of Nolan. Nolan based his on dark plot and realism, A new batman movie should take it back to the sci-fi noir that it use to be. Still based on Science but brought in by a fantastic way (see "Green Lantern" and "Incredible Hulk"). That said, i would welcome a new batman movie as long as they get

A near dystopic future

Would be cool. And make Batman older. Perhaps bring in an apprentice, Joseph Gordon-Levitt ?

And a suitable villain, Deadshot ? Dont know him, but he looks kind of cool.

Deadshot

A good equal match for Batman and a fresh villian to boot. My second choice would be Hush since that whole storyline would make for cinematic greatness (and feature almost every villian Batman's fought).

do a few "one-offs"

I think since these 3 last Batman films were so well done and told everyone where he came from and why he does what he does, that they should take that equity and try to do a few one-offs. Like maybe a Arkham asylum movie based off teh book/game. Maybe the Gotham by gaslight story of hunting jack the ripper. It will allow you license to do some different stuff and not to have to worry about continuity from one movie to the either. Yah know the character yo know his drive, now make some fun

If I were a studio executive, I wouldn't even fuck with Bruce Wayne for at least a decade after Nolan's last film, especially if Nolan has actually killed Batman in TDKR.

Instead I'd focus on making a live action version of Batman Beyond (though I guess that would still include Bruce Wayne) or a Nightwing movie.

I still doubt that DC would give Nolan the go-ahead to kill off Bruce. If he does I'm sure their would be amazing backlash against Nolan for doing such a thing.

I dunno, it's always been my impression that Nolan pretty much has free reign these days. He's always seemed to do whatever he wants, whether it's casting or plot development, regardless of whatever anyone else may do or say.

And even if he did kill Batman in TDKR, would it really matter? It's not like they could never make another Batman movie if he did. Hasn't Marvel already killed Captain America? Pretty sure I just saw a movie with him in it.

It's one thing for Marvel or DC to kill off their property it would be a different thing to let a movie have that much creative control over over their headline character. Although RA Salvatore did kill off Chewbacca lol

A backlash you say?

Personally I'm hoping they do. That way someone else is forced to start from scratch, even take up night wing, or a completely different batman entirely. It will just be a 100% guarantee that no one F's with this Franchise.

Hate to sound redundant, but Penguin or Riddler. Penguin is actually my favorite Batman villain and feel that his “mobster” version would be really cool. I also agree with the French dude – I want to see more detective work, so maybe Riddler would be the better choice with Penguin in the second movie. I also suggest not doing a complete origin again. Begins to me is the official origin now, so maybe do like Tims Batman and just have a flash back or something.

Introduce the Riddler and someone else. A 'reboot' is inevitable, so mine as well contemplate on what direction they'll take. I would prefer a more fantasy approach, possibly Clayface?

It's almost impossible to choose

Depends on the style of the movie and when would the story pick up. I would start the new franchise slow by introducing Bruce's friend Harvey Dent, have Batman interrogate a couple of villains in cameos but the main baddie would be a mystery killer that Batman has to find. It would be more noir, so maybe the Riddler, Dollmaker or Zsasz would fit in best.

But let just wait a couple of years... let the awesomeness of Nolan trilogy first sink in.

Therefore their best bet financially will be to go for someone that audiences are familiar with and will want to see on the screen, yet havent seen in Nolan's version. e.g. Penguin or Riddler. Though my personal choices would be Hugo Stange followed by Mad Hatter.

Depends on the style...

I'd like to see more of the detective side of Batman, so why not the Riddler ? it could still be dark and gritty of course. And I also want to see Batman kick some delinquent, thief, murderer ass in the dark alleys of Gotham.
Penguin as a mobster also, with drugs on the streets, kids dying, Leslie Thompkins, maybe a serial killer... You know, investigation and intimidation stuff. On a smaller scale than what Nolan is doing. I have nothing against Nolan's take on Batman, it's awesome. But if

Tough call seeing as nobody knows what vibe they'd be going for with a new series of Batman movies. I can't see anybody wanting to try Joker again straight away - someone Nolan hasn't tackled seems more likely and I think Riddler or Penguin would be decent choices.
