yea I don't think Eastwood is right for the film. If he directed it it would have a great story no doubt, but I don't think he's really right for doing big action films. Of course he did direct the old movie the Gauntlet which was an action film. How about Quentin Tarantino? He would sure be an interesting choice.

Woo Woo right away!

They need Woo. He not only can handle gun battles, but he knows how to direct hand-to-hand fights. The combat in the first Expendables was brutal and hard hitting. Not great, but pretty good. The fights in EX2 were laughably bad and boring. Woo could fix that and add the best of everything. With Sly's unrelenting violence, and Woo's visceral visuals, it's a match made in Heaven or is it Hell? Sly, woo Woo today!

Is this just random, or is that who has been considered for the job?

SERIOUSLY?!

who even brought up Eastwood as a director? I think one person did that but it makes absolutely no sense. Him having a role, that makes sense. But him directing it makes NO sense. For a movie celebrating big action lets get the guy who directed J Edgar, Hereafter and Gran Torino? What?!

Seriously, I love Clint but he makes no sense at all as the director of Ex3.

Woo is the easy choice out of the two, and I'd love to see what he could do with Ex3, his unique flavour could be really really

neither

i think clint ll kill the series if he directs it as he makes serious films.coming to John woo,he is known for big budget stylish action flicks but Expendables is more like B-movie action film.i ll prefer Neveldine/Taylor or Timur Bekmambetov or Michael Davis or Louis

I think Eastwood would laugh at the notion of directing something as trite as an Expendables film. How did his name get thrown in the mix anyway? Seems kind of random. Why not then consider Darren Aronofsky, or Ron Howard? No, Expendables doesn't require that kind of talent. Woo is perfect. Not saying I didn't like both Expendables.

When asked the other day if he'd be interested in starring (his name was on Stallone's wishlist), Eastwood said no. But he then went on to joke that he'd be interested in directing, and so here we are.

I'm shocked he would want to direct Expendables 3. I don't even want to know about the projects he would potentially pass on to direct this. Probably make my head explode.

Woo, a thousand times over

Despite making his career as an action star, as a director Eastwood actually makes pretty boring movies in my opinion. He doesn't seem concerned with infusing his films with any high-octane action sequences, which is a necessity for something like an Expendables movie. John Woo, on the other hand, would be perfect for this.

Woo, because of his action film pedigree and because after his break from Hollywood to do the Red Cliff movies, I'm sure he wouldn't mind getting his feet wet again - and what better way than with the Expendables franchise? Eastwood is a terrific director, but probably not the best fit for a genre picture like the Expendables flicks. As a fellow schmoe put it - bring on the doves!

Eastwood is a great director, but no one does action like Woo. The Killer, HardBoiled and A Better Tomorrow are classic action film. Woo could knock this out of the park in his sleep. No Doves though Mr Woo, I'm sick of doves.

As much as I love and worship Mr. Eastwood, I'd pick John Woo as the would-be director for The Expendables 3. It'd be nice to see Mr. Woo back to his top form a la "Hard Boiled" or at least either "Hard Target" or "Face/Off".
