Beetlejuice will always be in my Top 10. When I was just a wee lad, he was the kind of misbehaving antihero who I worshipped. Ed Wood and Edward Scissorhands are way up there, and Big Fish and Corpse Bride are my favorites since the millennium. Big Fish has some of the best casting for young and old versions of characters I have ever seen. I still think Albert Finney should've been nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Big Fish. It was a beautiful, surreal and well-realised blend of Burton's penchant for the weird and grotesque as well as his ability to deliver a warm, heartfelt, tearjerking story. I don't think he's been able to match that balance since then. Corpse Bride was a fair bit of fun too.

Even though he didn't direct it, The Nightmare Before Christmas was Burton's baby. It is by far the best Burton conceived movie! His best directorial movie, IMO, was Big Fish.

It's a coin toss between Big Fish and Ed Wood, but Big Fish was the first movie to make me cry as a grown man, so I'm gonna have to give the best "less-Burtonesque" of his movies the edge here.

For me, it was Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Ed Wood is a close second, but too Burtonesque. Pee Wee is a movie that was written by comedians (including the late, great Phil Hartman) and has that comedic insanity running through it, with only a few of what would later become Burton's signature style pieces scattered throughout the movie. It was Pee Wee's insanity reigning in (or even redirecting) Burton's weirdness. Which is a good thing.

Ed Wood is my favorite. I have Beetlejuice and Pee-Wee tied for a close second.

Big Fish

Big Fish was such a good movie. I think I've seen all Burton's films. That one really touched me.

Beetlejuice's Big Adventure

I love both Beetlejuice and Pee Wee's Big Adventure and can't decide between the two. Keaton at some of his best or total off beat humor of Rubens. This question is like unravelling a giant sweater that someone keeps knitting and knitting and knitting.

Ed Wood. The Oscar winning film about the worst movies ever made. Already watched it twice this Halloween season and it keeps getting better.

"Now no one gives two fucks for Bela."

Hard choice

Many great movies.
Batman, Beetlejuice, Pee Wee...
Sweeney Todd was also the best film adaption of a musical I have seen, imo.
