Is Jamie Foxx in early talks to play the villain in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man?

I like how you cast, boy.

I'm not sure how this will or will not effect the rumors of Spider-Man having to go up against Electro in the sequel to the rather spectacularly succesful first film ($750 million worldwide), but current Tarantino hero Jamie Foxx is reportedly in very early talks to play the villain (whomever they may be) in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.  Which is in turn rumored/hoped to be called THE SPECTACTULAR SPIDER-MAN, but that's neither here nor there.

The sequel will once again be directed by Marc Webb and star Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and possibly Shailene Woodley,   with a script from Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner ("Lost", "Fringe") based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN).  A 3D release date of May 2nd, 2014 is already locked down.

So would you say this news is shocking, or right up the same unexpected alley as the casting of Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors?

Oye. Creaux? Hypno-Hustler? Rocket Racer? Tombstone? Did Marvel really create a villain named "Hypno Hustler?"

I don't think he would make a good Electro (spelling), however I don't mind him playing a comic book villain. I think he has a talent to pull it off, just not Electro. He looks more like a Tombstone, Cage, Chameleon or even Mysterio. Electro is more of a lunatic ala Jim Carrey/Johnny Depp type. Just my two cents.

No

Jamie Foxx is fine, and I'm sure he will be great in Django, but this seems like a horrible idea. I would imagine the people behind these films assume that Fox is going to get an Oscar nomination out of Django, perhaps even a win, and they can get him signed up before that happens. I just cannot picture him as a convincing comic book film villain. A dramatic film villain, sure. But not a comic book character.

It's definitely one of the more interesting choices I've ever heard..I don't hate it, I don't dislike foxx. But as Electro I'm not so sure. And there has never been any official report saying it's Electro has there? I could see him being someone else potentially..The Lizard himself was definitely the weakest part about the film, heres hoping they work out their shit for the sequel now that the origin is out the way, characters established etc..

The first film was great. And it could have been even better. The action was incredible, and looked more like Spider-Man. I liked the originals as a kid, but they don't hold up. So over the top campy, can't watch certain scenes without laughing. Also hated how Raimi had to make the villain a good guy who wasn't really all that bad.

Nope.

The first film sucked because it had the worst villain in the history of comic book movies. They really need to step it up and make a menacing villain in the next one. Foxx has never been a villain has he? He is more known for the dramatic roles and comedic stuff. He could be Electro but it wont be menacing at all, he would be a joke just like the Schumacher Batman villains...

Foxx would be both hilarious and tragic as the Rocket Racer. Unfortunately, Sony showed an inappropriate thing for skateboards in the last film, so your Rocket Racer abomination could happen.

*crickets chirping*

Just goes to show you how far the franchise has tumbled. ASM wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. It was easily forgotten by most the minute they hit the parking lot at the cinema after watching the film. I don't care who they cast or where they go for the most part and I'm usually Mr. Marvel.
