MOVIE POLL: What did you think of Skyfall?

Nov. 11, 2012by: Dave Davis

What did you think of Skyfall?

The best Bond movie yet!
Really enjoyed it, but there have been better 007 movies.
Thought it was just okay.
Didn't care much for it at all.
Skipped it... for now.
Eh, not a Bond fan.

Fulle Circle

I liked the film alot. It did feel a little long, but not overly so, to the point that I was looking at my watch. That "interrogation" scene had alot of people chuckling in the theater with how heavy the homoerotic overtones were. I too was disappointed that there was no mano a mano scrap between Bond and Silva, but I've never seen Bardem in and out and out action role, so maybe he wasn't up to snuff for one. Either way, Bond's Home Alone moment had me grinning ear to ear (and Kevin McCallister

It was a great way to tie off the personal story of Bond by having him physically destroying his past self. With QoS being a sort of Casino Royale 1.5, this is rightfully the true successor. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Just one glaring thing that annoyed me

Let me preface this by saying I really, really dug "Skyfall". One plot device that annoyed the living shit out of me however was that Javier MEANT TO get caught by Bond. There was essentially no reason for that considering he could have just gotten into the cop car and gotten to M without the tunnel sequence at all. I will say when he takes out his dental appliance gave me chills though.

One of the best EVER! The way that Skyfall took lots of elements from previous Bond movies, yet introduced them in a refreshing new way was excellent! Not to mention that Bardem was one of the best Bond baddies since Jaws. His performance was outstanding! And the ending was absolutely PERFECT. I'm thinking they may introduce a certain enemy of Bond's in the next movie, one that has had a presence in over 6 or 7 past bond movies.

'This is my house I have to defend it!'

Thought it was very very overated! I thought the first 2 thirds of the movie did very well and then it went into ripping off other movies.I was waiting for Maculay Culkin to come out at the end and help out defeating the bad guys with some of his micro machines. And although Javier Bardem was good, I felt he was a bit of a cartoon character and not a villain that instilled fear as he was supposed too, He almost reminded me of David Walliams from little Britain. So yeh it was Okay but not worth

Just saw it and loved it. I really was surprised at how personal a movie it was, was expecting the usual blow up the wold scenario, onlyt to find it a very effective revenge story. Javier Bardem was amazing!!

'Bond' is Back

With Moneypenny, M, Q, DB5, 'for her eyes only', the origin story, etc. Bond has come full circle. The squaddie ex-commando has been replaced with the smooth debonair secret agent.

Not the best, but very good...

While a very good movie, and I thoroughly enjoy Craig, some of MI6's actions were soooooooo...

*SPOLIER ALERT*

Why would Q, who's supposed to be some sort of genius, connect a hackers computer to the MI6 network? Why would you put this notorious hacker in a computer controlled cell rather than behind good old iron bars?

There was too much Batman/ Dark Knight influence with a dash of Hound of the Baskerville's to keep this movie from being great.

One of the year's best films!

A great film which will end up being one of the year's top films. Not as great as "Casino Royale" but unbelievably damn close without even trying to be better than all the other Bond films. "Skyfall" was merely trying to measure up to other Bonds films, both modern and classic style, and it shattered all expectations!

7 out of 8 ...

Okay, I like bond movies just like everyone else, but 7 out of the last 8 polls have been 'Bond' related. Can we move on? Is there any other movie news out there to poll about?

It's up there with the best.

Casino Royale is still Craig's best, but only by a hair. I loved how small and personal the climax is. Not something you get out of your everyday action movie.

Awesome

This movie was so good. Bond is played perfectly by Daniel Craig and his nemeses Javier Bardem was great. Bond deserves the glory.

I enjoyed it a lot, but I think it's important to note that this will be mainly be a treat for Bond fans and devotees - more casual viewers will probably still enjoy it, but not get as much out of the more character-driven story. I loved how the film served up the James Bond formula, then completely deconstructed it and built something new out of it; crafting an engrossing story while tipping the hat just enough to the Bond films of yonder. It goes without saying that Skyfall is a far better

It goes without saying that Skyfall is a far better 50th birthday present than Die Another Day was a 40th one. While Die Another Day was over-the-top, laughably silly and very clumsy with its use of references, Skyfall was serious but not dour, more assured in its style than Quantum of Solace was and very smart in its homages. Ultimately, it's a near-perfect 50th anniversary present and a brilliant way to mark that milestone.

Let the sky fall.

I thought it was great! I would have to agree with some and say it wasn't the best Bond, but its definitely up there. The cinematography blew me away! And some great "classic" bond moments with some even feeling like it came straight out of a Fleming book. Only a few gripes here and there, but when all is said and done it pleased the Bond fanatic inside me completely and then some! I wish he wasn't becoming older already, because I wish Craig would play Bond WAY beyond two more movies.

It was a great movie, but not in my top 5 Bond films. I'm surprised that people consider it the best. The direction, cinematography, music, and action were all good, but this was the most serious of all the Bond films. In a way I like that b/c it gives us something different, but I feel a Bond film should be somewhat more lighthearted, fun, and exciting. I still think Casino Royale did the best job of allowing for a more dramatic Bond film while still keeping with the tone of the others. I

I wasn't to thrilled with Q, he seemed more like the MI6 IT guy than an inventor, but I'm hoping that changes a little in future films. Aside from those minor issues, I still recommend the film b/c it is one of the better Bond films.

***SPOILER ALERT*** ***SPOILER ALERT*** ***SPOILER ALERT***
It's a heck of a way to celebrate 50 years James Bond! I feel like the whole is a great homage to Bond series. Skyfall may start off a bit slow but once Bond is ready for action the excitement just keep on coming. The best Bond yet. And it's great to see Albert Finney. He's one great scene-stealer.

Easily the best. It combined all the great elements of the Bond series and flipped them on their head.

Craig's Best

I saw Skyfall last night in Imax ('fake' Imax unfortunately, not the super huge screen that I'd prefer) and I'm quite stuck on whether or not I liked it better that Casino Royale. That in itself should be enough to show how great of a movie this was! The plot, the action, the suspense (especially the last half hour or so), the acting, the villain, all were as top notch as I could hope for after the 'meh' Quantam of Solace. Bardem channeled his inner Joker but still managed to make it his own,

Bardem channeled his inner Joker but still managed to make it his own, going for a more over the top, exaggerated, psycho angle. Judi Dench was absolutely amazing as M, who was almost as much of a main character as Bond was. The only gripe I have is that I wish I could've seen Bardem and Craig go at it in an epic fist fight for the ages, as studboi69 mentioned below too. I almost wish this was the last installment in Craig's Bond series though, because the ending was absolutely perfect. Now all we can hope for is that they won't go down the wrong road with the next 2 Bond movies. But Skyfall definitely lived up to the hype, and it is indeed Craig's best outing as James Bond yet!

Almost forgot to mention the GORGEOUS cinematography! There were absolutely beautiful shots in almost every major scene of this movie, from the opening sequence to Shanghai to the abandoned island to especially the last set. This can't be praised enough, it was visually stunning. My favorite would have to be the silhouetted fight scene in the Shanghai skyscraper, that was just so unusual and inspired! DEFINITELY the most beautiful movie I've seen in a long time

Thought the opening scene, tying into the title sequence was unreal. The rest of the movie was very good but IMO didn't quite live up to those first 7 minutes. And I'm in the minority, but I didn't love bardem.

In an unrelated, surely to get downvoted comment, I'm in the minority that thought Quantum of Solace was actually pretty good.

With that said, I liked Skyfall, but I've seen a lot of people say that Skyfall is the best James Bond film since Goldfinger or Goldeneye- and it's not. It's probably in the top 10 Bond movies.

And to be honest, I thought it was about 30 minutes too long as I found it to drag. It's so intent on being a serious movie, it never manages to be as much fun as a lot of

As a movie that wants to be super serious, it's never as fascinating or as intense as, say Casino. Or Solace.

Yeah.... I couldn't quite put my finger on in at the moment, but it lacked the unabashed fun of Casino Royale.

Great entry in the Bond franchise, certainly made up for Quantum of Solace. It had a few issues though. I felt Silva was underutilized and the ending "showdown" was such a cop-out. I would've liked to see a mano-e-mano beatdown i.e. Goldeneye, since it was implied Silva would be on equal footing with Bond. And it seemed they were trying to tackle too many plot threads at once (Silva's revenge plot against M, Bond getting old and worn-out, Bond's past, etc.) and they didn't really tie up together

But the gorgeous direction, competently shot action (that one-take fight scene in Shanghai!), and acting totally made the movie for me. As it stands, "Casino Royale" still stands as the best of the Craig Bond entries. However, I feel Skyfall will be worth a second viewing to better appreciate it.

Loved it

I loved it. I thought it was fun, and entertaining. 2nd Best next to Casino Royal..my friend on the other hand had this to say about it:

"Rip off joker from dark knight and instead of making him a crazy genius just make him a complete idiot, add home alone, add meet the spartans quality jokes and you have skyfall or should I say skyfail

It's like 4 completely different movies poorly rolled into one...I am so disappointed...Not the worst movie of the year (Total recall, Man with the iron

If anyone votes for "Eh, not a Bond fan." you'll notice Daniel Craig has a gun pointed square at your balls.
