X-Men News: The Wolverine gets a new synopsis and Bryan Singer promises what will not be in Days of Future Past

Nov. 15, 2012by: Alex Maidy

With Fox trying to get their Marvel properties in order, we may be on the verge of their most successful run of good movies ever. The first one we will get is THE WOLVERINE from director James Mangold. This new synopsis does not give much more detail but does reinforce what Mangold and Hugh Jackman shared during their Q&A a few weeks ago.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

I doubt they are incorporating Logan losing his adamantium claws into the story, but you never know. I am hoping they came up with something good and not just referring to the romantic subplot from the comic arc.

THE WOLVERINE will open on July 26th 2013.

The other bit of news should come as a sigh of relief for many fans. It was recently announced that X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST would employ Louise Mingenbach as costume designer. For those of you who do not know who she is, just know that she worked on X-MEN and X2. Yes, that is right, she is the person who created the black leather uniforms. I don't know about you, but I didn't have a problem with the black outfits. We got the yellow and black costumes in FIRST CLASS which looked exactly like the comics. I think that fans are just disappointed that the iconic individual costumes from the comics have not made an appearance yet.

Director Bryan Singer must have heard the Internet outcry and took to Twitter to confirm that the black leather costumes would not be returning for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. You can all now relax.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will be released leather free on July 18, 2014.

I actually have faith in Singer. Gotta think he's learned from Vaughn and all the comic flicks done right since X2, that he knows what the audience really wants.

It's convenient for people to forget that Bryan Singer directed The Usual Suspects. Despite what you may think while throwing your toys out of the cot, he is most definitely not a hack.

I'm a Sad Panda

First off, I have a lot of faith in this Wolverine flick, it keeps sounding better and better. Second, when X-men Days of Future Past was announced I nerdgasmed hard. When it was announced it would not be helmed by Vaughn but instead Singer all my excitement drifted away. I have a feeling he will suck all the greatness out of this story and continue to use X-men as his milk crate to push his agenda.

Alright so I gotta say...

I love me some X-Men: First Class. I was disappointed by some of the second string characters they incorporated, but other than that the movie was absolutely flipping solid, so I was as bummed as anyone to hear that Vaughan wouldn't be returning but man, does it do my heart good to hear that Bryan Singer will be behind the camera. I don't like everything the man's done (although I like most of it) but the guy has honestly done more to help legitimize comic book movies than just about anybody

There would be no Dark Knight or Avengers without Spider-Man 2 and X-Men 2, and there wouldn't have been any Spider-Man 1 without X-Men 1.

Give me no fucking...

Bryan Singer, the motherfucking hack. Will Ahab be in it? Cable? Wolverine? This motherfucker does not, nor does he ever know when he's out of his league. Good Lord, just adapt the fucking story arc, Marvel proved that sticking to a well established story arc works. Fuck your "creative license" it should be revoked and burned you hack!

I hate Fox. This will be stupid and so will the costumes. The Wolverine sounds like it should of been the movie Origins was promised to be.

The best thing about more X-men movies is...
