Thor vs. Malekith! A roll-up of action shots and video from the set of Thor: The Dark World

Nov. 16, 2012by: Paul Shirey

This past week has seen a host of set pics and video from THOR: THE DARK WORLD, revealing star Chris Hemsworth in full "God of Thunder" mode as well as our first look at Christopher Eccleston as Malekith, the leader of the dark elves, as well as his army.  Today, we have a roll-up of these images, which have been hitting like gangbusters.  I have to say, I'm really digging the fact that so much action and cool-looking villains are filling up this movie and having Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor calling the shots really sweetens the deal.

Let's get to the pics:

And here's the vids:

THOR: THE DARK WORLD, starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christopher Eccleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins unleashes on November 8, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Why is the God of Thunder always using lightning? One may follow the other, but they're wholly different things. Thor needs to get his priorities straight.

POSSIBLE SPOILER

For those complaining about some footage revealing Thor comes back to Midgard/Earth...
SOOOOO you knew Nathalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard and Kat Dennings were going to be in it, but you didn't understood that it meant, at least, SOME part of the action would take place on Earth ???
Please, STOP playing dumb for the sake of complaining, mates...

"Ňskguden Thor" = is translated as The God of Thunder. But "Ňska" is both thunder and lightning.

In fact, "Thunder" comes from the norse/old scandinavian word "TordŲn", Thor's rumble/noise.

Who would win? Thor or Superman? Normally I don't like those kinds of questions, but it does have me intrigued.

Thunder is essentially the sound of lightning or more specifically the breaking of the sound barrier caused by the rapid expansion of air from an electrostatic discharge, in this case lightning. One essentially begets the other but I understand what you mean. However it may be difficult to attack someone with sound...nevermind, forget I said that last part.
The set pics look amazing, btw. So Malekith can just take a full on hit from Mjolnir? Damn.

I was under the impression Thor wasn't returning to Earth for the sequel, until I saw that picture of him crushing a car. Unless they drive Mercedes in one of the other realms.
