From the creators of ICE AGE and RIO comes this new animated epic, called, uh, EPIC. Starring the voice talents of Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried, Beyonce Knowles, Aziz Ansari, Christoph Waltz, Josh Hutcherson, Blake Anderson, Judah Friedlander, Steven Tyler, and Jason Sudeikis, the film looks like a bit of an eco-adventure pic with similar themes of good vs. evil with some cute, playful characters and mean, nasty villains.

Have a look:

Here's the breakdown:

EPIC is a 3D CG action-adventure comedy that reveals a hidden world unlike any other. From the creators of ICE AGE and RIO, EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle deep in the forest between the forces of good who keep the natural world alive and the forces of evil who wish to destroy it. When a teen age girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters in order to save their world... and ours.

This looks pretty fun and the visuals will likely pop in 3D.  I'm not blown away, but this is something I'd be happy to sit through with my youngster.  Plus, I kind of dig the "miniature world" type stuff, which always offers some cool perspective if capitalized in creative ways.  I think EPIC may be on the right track there.  Plus, Christoph Waltz!

EPIC is set for release in 3D on May 24, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: I think it would be fun to be "transported" into a miniature world. For like five minutes, maybe.

It is very pretty to look at, that's for sure. Looks like something I would've liked as a kid, something in the vein of Fern Gully. That aside...Christoph Waltz can't even go to a magical enchanted mini forest without having to play a villain. SMH
