Jackie Brown for me. I liked Death Proof quite a bit. Not his best movie, but certainly not his worst.

Yeah but ti's not a bad movie.

Death Proof is Terentino's worst movie the same way I think TDKR is Nolan's worst movie. They're the weakest film's they've made, but they're not bad films.

I can't really vote cause I like all his movies! I guess for me the question would have to be which movie did you care for least. I still can't choose though! I like all his stuff!

Read this about a week ago actually (you're slacking JoBlo), but no I do enjoy Death Proof very much mostly because of Kurt Russell's over the top performance & ya could tell he had a blast making the movie.. I appreciated what QT & Rodriguez were trying to do with Grindhouse (even saw it twice in theatres). SOme people loved it & some just didn't get it & that is fine. Gotta respect QT though for giving his opinion on one of his own films.

If I were 2 pick which one of QT's films is the

I am voter number 666 for Yes.

Death Proof is easily his worst, for me, mainly due to the fact that all the characters were so freakin' unlikeable that I didn't give a rat's arse when any of them were killed. With that said, the car chase near the end was spectacularly filmed.
And come on people, Jackie Brown is really good. I'd even go so far as to rate it higher than Reservoir Dogs.

I'd agree that this is his weakest film, but it is still a top notch Tarantino film which are always better than most of the crap out anyways. . Also, whats with all the Jackie Brown hate? I watch that movie twice in a row when i bought it on blu-ray, I think its great!

Kill Bill

Fuckin awful dialogue, performed terribly by overactors - some parts were brilliant but they could edit it down to one movie without all the confrontation monologues.

No Biggie

It was a great grind-house romp, but it was not a film. It was his worst because there was no real character arc. I loved it but his other work is better. I wish more directors did short films or anthologies, its fun seeing the style without all the trappings of a complete entity.

How about "Have Tarantino movies sucked since Pulp Fiction?" or "Has the one trick pony of unnecessary dialogue in revenge stories ran its course?" or "His schtick was cool 15 years ago. It hasn't changed. Does it still hold up?" or "How come everyone bashes M.Night Shyamalan for rehashing the same thing over and over only more ridiculous every time, but calls QT a genius for it?"

Probably because QT's thing is making movies where the characters talk and it's interesting. he also shoots low and uses old movie genres to fuel a creative take on the staple conventions of the respective genre. M Knight makes crap with a twist at the end. No one has ever said he can't write a twist...it's just getting there that sucks.
If you thought Inglorious Basterds or Kill Bill "sucked" I really don't know who to reach you. They don't suck at all. You might not like his style but a lot

Entertaining, but not great.

Death Proof isn't horrible, but it's the weakest thing Tarantino has ever put out, which is a pretty high standard.

I actually like when Stuntman Mike becomes a sniveling baby at the end of the movie. It reverses the charcter dynamic in a way that is satisfying to a female revenge story, and Kurt Russell is pretty hilarious crying and whining. Stuntman Mike was only as brave as his car let him be. Without that advantage, he is just a little bitch.

Yes

Death Proof is merely okay, with some good things, but far too padded and overlong. While not bad, certainly not good.

I Guess Spoilers? Maybe?

It's not a bad movie, but without a doubt its his worst. It's fun to be jerked around every now and again (the protagonist switch), but it just made half the movie feel redundant. Plus the climax degenerates the villain into a weepy underdog, which has the curious effect of hoping he gets away. It was just a weird, unclear mess there at the end.

Underrated...

I enjoyed DeathProof, a lot. It feels like it falls short of his other stuff because there isn't much meat to the story but its still effective in the context of what he was doing with it. That said, sure, its at the bottom of the list of my Favorite Tarantino films.

Jackie Brown is my favorite, Basterds a closing second

Death Proof, by its nature, is incomplete. Its meant to be the second half of Grindhouse. Together with Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror and all the whacky promos, it creates a wholly unique and utterly satisfying movie experience. Its literally a 'B' movie....the second, low-budget flick you used to get with your movie ticket. QT himself put it best "Planet Terror has a great opening...Death Proof has a great ending."

If the only interaction you have with the flick is the solo DVD, you

If the only interaction you have with the flick is the solo DVD, you did indeed get the shaft. While the added characterization is nice (plus more Earl McGraw)...this extended cut with all that black and white French new wave stuff stops the movie dead. The leaner theatrical cut is much more satisfying.

A director could do worse than have his weakest film have arguably the greatest car chase ever filmed, characteristically awesome dialog, killer soundtrack, and the combined hottie firepower of Rosario Dawson, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Rose McGowan, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (also...thanks to this movie I have a huge crush on Zoe Bell, yeah I said it.)

Death Proof is QT's Worst...

... Feature length film. But his most horrible work was his segment of Four Rooms. That's the worst thing Tarantino has put of film and showed people. Everything else he's done has been gold. Gold I tells ya!

I don't think it's a bad movie per se, but out of all his directorial outings, it's the most uneven in my mind. Jackie Brown actually happens to be one of my personal favorites.

I like that there is a poll. The fucking douche canoe below asserting that everyone who voted no is a tard.

Jackie Brown is his worst. That movie sucks in both the shallow and boring characters, the weak plot line, the really unnecessary and forced dialogue...it goes on and on.

Seeing how Grindhouse movies are bad in general and Tarantino's attempt at this was bad, I'd say that was worse than his below average film Jackie Brown. But hey, people like you try to be "different' in these types of polls all the time instead of giving the obvious answer.

I liked Deathproof. Grindhouse movies aren't 'bad' they're just purposefully cheap looking because they're cheap. For what he did within the limitations of being derivative of a genre known for not suiting most people's tastes I think he did quite well. I enjoy Grindhouse but I think it's more appealing to those who have worked on sets in a professional capacity on the creative side. It's easy to just say 'chick on the hood of a car speeding down a highway' but it's another thing all together

Jackie Brown plays like he made a bad ripoff of his own style.

Well, I don't think Jackie Brown is necessarily the prime example of Tarantino, but I do think that it successfully captured the spirit of an Elmore Leonard novel (while Out of Sight and Get Shorty are maybe better straight-up adaptations). Quentin turned it into a blaxploitation homage by bringing in Pam Grier as the star. Anyway, it's a fusion of Tarantino and Leonard, not completely different idiologies, but close enough.

As much as I liked certain parts of Death Proof, I would actually agree. Egregious overacting from Sydney Tamiia Poitier and Tracie Thoms, and the disappointing ending that turned Stuntman Mike from a cool threat to a whimpering baby, helped keep this film from joining Tarantino's other works as modern classics.

Agreed. The ending is just so unsatisfying. Maybe that's what he was going for, (showing the heroes as psychos and the villain as a victim), but it still makes it unsatisfying, planned or not.

Its not a bad movie, just not Tarantino's best. He said in an interview that going into the project. he had never filmed a chase sequence before. So he was learning how while on set. Ballsy movie that didnt turn out terribly, but he should probably stick to stand-off scenes, thats his bread and butter.

Also, has anyone seen "Four Rooms"? Tarantino directed one of the segments for that film and consider that his worst film. I havent seen it so i can't really comment, but as far as his canon

YES!

thats not to say its a terrible movie. But rather a comment on how great QTs resume is. DP or at least the full length version, suffers from an interminably boring middle, with a vain attempt at recapturing the cool natural flow of the Reservoir Dogs "Like a Virgin" scene, plodding girl talk, a silly car stunt ride and 10 minutes of buying a car. Granted every second of Kurt Russell was amazing, but the moment he's off screen, so is the interest.
DP is a fine film, but held up to Rez, Pulp
